# Active Addresses by Blockchain: Daily and Monthly

> Active addresses by blockchain: distinct senders per day and per month on Ethereum, Solana, Tron, BNB Chain, Base, TON and more, counted one way on every chain.

**Question:** Which blockchains have the most active addresses?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Layer 1 chains](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/chains)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Solana, Tron, BNB Chain, Base, TON
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Active addresses are the closest on-chain measure of how many people use a chain, and one of the easiest to inflate. This dashboard counts, for each chain, the distinct addresses that sent at least one successful transaction in a day and in the last 30 days, using each chain's nearest equivalent of a sender, such as Solana's fee payer or a TON wallet contract.

Read the counts as addresses, not people: one person can control many addresses and an exchange can act for many people from one, while bots can create as many as they like. Each chain's count comes from its own transactions with the rule written down, so chains are compared like for like. Every figure links to the blocks that produced it.

## Blueprint

### Daily

Distinct senders per chain on the latest day and over time.

- **Active addresses, all chains** (count): Each covered chain's distinct senders on the latest complete day, added up, so an address active on two chains counts twice.
- **Most active chain**: The chain with the most distinct senders on the latest complete day, and its count.
- **Change against last week** (%): The covered chains' daily active addresses against the same weekday a week earlier.
- **New addresses, latest day** (count): Addresses that sent their first transaction on their chain on the latest complete day, added up across chains.
- **Daily active addresses by chain** (count): Each chain's distinct daily senders over the selected period, one line per chain.

### Monthly

Distinct senders per chain over 30 days, and how often they return.

- **30-day active addresses** (count): Distinct senders over the last 30 days on each covered chain, added up across chains.
- **Daily to monthly ratio** (%): Average daily active addresses divided by the 30-day count across covered chains: how much of the monthly base is active on a typical day.
- **30-day active addresses by chain** (count): Distinct senders over the last 30 days on each chain, sorted from most to fewest.
- **Daily and monthly by chain**: Each chain's daily and 30-day active addresses, new addresses, its daily to monthly ratio and the change against the previous 30 days.

Filters: Period (Last 30 days, 90 days or a year); Chain (Every covered chain).

## How it will be measured

- EVM chains count distinct from addresses of successful transactions per UTC day and per rolling 30 days, from each chain's transaction table.
- Solana counts distinct fee payers, the first signer, of non-vote transactions; Tron counts transaction owner addresses; Sui and Aptos count transaction senders and NEAR counts signers.
- TON counts wallet contracts that processed an external message from their owner; the XRP Ledger and Stellar count source accounts of validated transactions; Cardano counts payment addresses that spent an input.
- Monthly counts are distinct over the whole window, not a sum of daily counts, so an address active every day counts once.
- Each count is pinned to the first and last block of its window and carries a receipt for the reads behind it.

## Data it needs

- `chain_activity_daily` (to build): Transactions, active sending addresses, new addresses, contracts created and gas used on each chain per day, counted from blocks and transactions.
- Source: EVM fct_transactions: distinct from_address of successful transactions per day and per 30 days
- Source: Solana: distinct fee payers (first signer) of non-vote transactions
- Source: Tron owner_address; Sui and Aptos senders; NEAR signer_id
- Source: TON wallets processing owner-signed external messages; XRP Ledger and Stellar source accounts; Cardano payment addresses spending inputs

## Questions

### What is an active address?

An address that sent at least one successful transaction in the period. Counting senders rather than receivers keeps out addresses that only received an airdrop or a spam transfer without ever acting.

### Are active addresses the same as users?

No. A person may use several addresses and an exchange may move funds for many people from one address, while automated programs can control very many. Active addresses are best read as a trend on one chain and compared across chains with care.

### Why are Solana votes left out?

Until the Alpenglow upgrade, Solana validators recorded their consensus votes as transactions, which made validators look like very active users. Votes are excluded throughout, so the series stays comparable before and after they left the ledger.

### Why do daily and monthly counts tell different stories?

Daily counts show how many addresses are active on a typical day; monthly counts show how many different addresses used the chain at all. A high daily count with a low monthly one means a small set of addresses returns again and again.

## Glossary

- **Fee payer**: On Solana, the account that signs first and pays the transaction's fee, counted here as its sender.
- **Distinct count**: Each address counted once in the window, however many transactions it sent.
- **Daily to monthly ratio**: Average daily active addresses divided by the 30-day count: how much of a chain's monthly base shows up on a typical day.
