**Question:** After an airdrop, how much of the claimed tokens do recipients still hold after thirty days, and how much went to exchanges?

- Kind: Report in Voltfin Folio
- Topic: [Markets and trading](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/trading)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Solana, Linea, Monad, Berachain, Sonic
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

An airdrop hands tokens to many wallets at once, and what those wallets do next moves the token's market. This report follows the airdrops that opened their claims in the month: how much of the claimed supply recipients still hold after seven, thirty and ninety days, how much they sold on DEXs and how much they sent to exchange deposit addresses.

It is built from the claim contracts and the token's own transfers, so every share can be traced to wallets and blocks. Each edition also looks at concentration: how much went to the largest claimers, how many claimers behaved like one farm and whether airdrops with vesting or staking options kept more holders than those paid out in full on the first day.

## Blueprint

### The month's airdrops

Which airdrops opened claims this month, on which chains, how much was claimed and how much is still unclaimed.

Cites: Airdrops covered; Tokens claimed; Claimers.

### Who held

Retention at seven, thirty and ninety days for each airdrop, including earlier airdrops that reached their later marks this month.

Cites: Held after seven days; Held after thirty days; Held after ninety days.

### Who sold and where

DEX sales and exchange deposits by claimers, day by day since the claim, and the largest sellers' share of the total.

Cites: Sold on DEXs; Sent to exchanges; Largest claimers' share of selling.

### How concentrated the claims were

The share claimed by the largest wallets and by flagged clusters, and how retention changes without them.

Cites: Top claimers' share; Claimed by flagged clusters.

### What design changed

How vesting, staking options, claim windows and eligibility rules lined up with retention across the airdrops covered.

Cites: Retention with vesting; Retention without vesting.

### Method and corrections

The distributor contracts read, the labels used and any changes to earlier editions.

## How it will be measured

- Claims are read from each airdrop's distributor contract, through its Claimed events or the token transfers out of it, with the claimer, the amount and the block.
- Retention is the share of claimed tokens still held by the claiming address, or by a labelled staking or vesting contract on its behalf, seven, thirty and ninety days after each claim.
- Selling counts DEX swaps of the token by claimers; exchange deposits count transfers into labelled exchange addresses, reported apart because a deposit is not always a sale.
- Claimers funded from one source and moving in lockstep are flagged as likely farms, and retention is shown both with and without them.

## Data it needs

- `airdrop_claims` (to build): Claims from airdrop distributor contracts: eligible amount, claimed amount, claimers and what they did next.
- `token_transfers_daily` (to build): ERC-20 and native transfer counts, volume and unique senders and receivers per token per chain per day.
- `dex_swaps_daily` (to build): Swap counts and volume per DEX, pool and chain per day, decoded from Swap events, valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices.
- `token_holders_snapshot` (to build): Holder counts, top holders and concentration shares of registry tokens at a pinned block, with contract and exchange labels.
- `address_labels` (to build): Labels for known addresses: exchanges, bridges, protocols, funds, treasuries, sanctioned addresses and known attackers.
- Source: Claimed events and token transfers out of each airdrop distributor contract
- Source: Transfer logs of each airdropped token from claimer addresses after the claim
- Source: DEX Swap events in which claimers sold the token
- Source: balanceOf for claimers at blocks seven, thirty and ninety days after their claims
- Source: Labelled exchange deposit, staking and vesting addresses

## Questions

### What is airdrop retention?

The share of airdropped tokens that recipients still hold some time after claiming them. A high share means most recipients kept their tokens; a low share means much of the airdrop was sold or moved soon after the claim.

### Do most airdrop recipients sell?

Many airdrops see heavy selling in the first days, especially from the largest claimers and from wallets that farmed eligibility. The report measures each airdrop separately, because design choices such as vesting, staking rewards or lockups change the outcome.

### Is a transfer to an exchange a sale?

Not always. A recipient may deposit tokens to trade later or to hold them in an exchange account. The report shows exchange deposits beside DEX sales and never adds the two into one selling figure.

### How are airdrop farms detected?

Wallets funded from the same source, claiming in the same blocks and sending tokens to the same destination are grouped as a likely cluster. The grouping is a flag, not a verdict, and retention is reported both with and without flagged clusters.

### Which airdrops are covered?

Airdrops whose claims opened in the month on a covered chain, with a public distributor contract and enough claimers to measure. Each edition lists them, and earlier airdrops return when they reach their ninety-day mark.

## Glossary

- **Merkle distributor**: A claim contract that stores one root of all eligible allocations and pays each wallet that submits a valid proof of its share.
- **Sybil**: One person or group posing as many wallets to collect more of an airdrop than intended.
- **Retention**: The share of claimed tokens still held by recipients at a set time after the claim.
