**Question:** How much trades on Aster, how much of it can be checked on-chain and how much ASTER do its fees buy back?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [DeFi](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/defi)
- Chains: BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Solana
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Aster is a perpetuals exchange formed from the merger of APX Finance and Astherus, and its ASTER token launched on BNB Chain in 2025. It runs two products: Pro, an order book with hidden orders, and Simple, one-click trading against Aster's liquidity pool at very high leverage. Collateral is deposited from BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana, and in 2026 Aster launched its own chain, Aster Chain, built for private on-chain trading.

Questions about how much of Aster's reported volume is organic make the source of each figure matter, so this dashboard separates them. Deposits, withdrawals and the liquidity pool are read from Aster's contracts; Pro order book volume, open interest and funding are recorded from Aster's published market data and marked venue-reported; trades that settle on Aster Chain are read from that chain. The share of volume backed by on-chain settlement sits beside the total.

Aster's fees fund ASTER buybacks: under its current program, tokens bought on the market go to veASTER stakers and a matching amount is burned. The buybacks page counts each purchase and burn from the addresses that make them.

## Blueprint

### Trading

Volume, open interest and what each figure rests on.

- **Volume, latest day** (USD): Volume across Aster's products on the latest complete day, venue-reported and on-chain together.
- **Open interest** (USD): Open interest across Aster's markets at the latest read, one side, as Aster reports it.
- **Settled on-chain** (%): The share of the latest day's volume that settled in transactions on a chain the dashboard reads.
- **Volume to open interest** (ratio): The latest day's volume divided by open interest, a turnover measure to compare with other venues.
- **Volume by product** (USD): Daily volume stacked by Pro, Simple and Aster Chain, with venue-reported and on-chain parts marked.
- **Markets**: Each market's volume, open interest, funding and the source of each figure.

### Deposits and buybacks

Collateral by chain, and the ASTER bought and burned.

- **Collateral deposited** (USD): Collateral held in Aster's vault contracts across chains at the latest read.
- **ASTER bought, 30 days** (ASTER): ASTER bought by the buyback addresses over the last thirty days.
- **Collateral by chain** (USD): Collateral in Aster's vaults split by the chain it was deposited on.
- **ASTER bought and burned by day** (ASTER): ASTER bought and ASTER burned each day, with total supply afterwards.

Filters: Product (Pro, Simple, Aster Chain or all); Period (Last 7, 30 or 90 days).

## How it will be measured

- Deposits and withdrawals are the collateral transfers into and out of Aster's vault contracts on BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana, read at each day's last block or slot.
- Pro order book volume, open interest and funding come from Aster's published market data and are recorded with that source and the time of each read, labelled venue-reported.
- The liquidity pool behind Simple trading is read from its contracts: assets held, pool token supply and price, so the pool's result against traders is measured on-chain.
- ASTER buybacks and burns are the purchases and burn transfers of the buyback and treasury addresses Aster publishes, and veASTER rewards are read from their distribution transactions.

## Data it needs

- `perps_markets_daily` (to build): Volume, open interest, funding rates and fees per market on on-chain perpetual exchanges, per day.
- `defi_tvl_daily` (to build): Assets deposited in DeFi protocols per protocol, chain and asset at day end, valued with oracle prices, never double counting receipt tokens.
- `protocol_revenue_daily` (to build): Fees users paid to each protocol and the part kept by the protocol or its token holders, per protocol and day, including buybacks.
- `token_supply_daily` (to build): Total supply of each registry token on each chain at day end: wrapped BTC, liquid staking tokens, tokenized assets and other tracked tokens.
- Source: Collateral vault deposits and withdrawals on BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana
- Source: Aster's published market data for Pro volume, open interest and funding, recorded with its source and time
- Source: Liquidity pool contracts: assets held, pool token supply and price
- Source: Settled trades on Aster Chain
- Source: Buyback, burn and veASTER reward transactions from Aster's published addresses

## Questions

### What is Aster DEX?

A perpetuals exchange that started on BNB Chain, formed when APX Finance and Astherus merged. It offers an order book for active traders and a simpler pool-based mode, accepts collateral from several chains and now also settles trades on its own Aster Chain.

### Is Aster volume real?

This dashboard cannot see inside Aster's matching engine, so it does not rule on that. It shows how much of the reported volume is backed by on-chain settlement and how volume compares with open interest and deposits over time, so readers can weigh the figures themselves.

### What is the difference between Aster Pro and Simple?

Pro is an order book with limit orders, hidden orders and the usual trading tools. Simple lets traders open a position in one click against Aster's liquidity pool, which takes the other side, at leverage far higher than Pro allows.

### What is Aster Chain?

Aster's own layer 1, launched in 2026 for on-chain derivatives trading, with privacy features that hide order and position details from other users. Trades that settle there are read from the chain itself.

### How do ASTER buybacks work?

Aster uses its daily fees to buy ASTER on the market. Under the program in place since June 2026, the tokens bought go to veASTER stakers and an equal amount is burned from reserves. The dashboard counts both from the buyback and burn transactions.

## Glossary

- **veASTER**: Staked ASTER that receives the tokens Aster's buybacks purchase.
- **Venue-reported**: A figure published by the exchange itself and recorded with its source, not read from a chain.
- **Hidden order**: An order kept off the visible book until it fills, offered in Aster Pro.
- **Aster liquidity pool**: The pool that takes the other side of Simple mode trades, whose providers share its result against traders.
