**Question:** How much liquidity is left in Balancer pools, and how much has been withdrawn since the wind-down began?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [DeFi](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/defi)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, Gnosis, Avalanche, OP Mainnet, Sonic
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Balancer is a DEX of programmable pools: weighted pools with more than two tokens, stable pools and, in v3, boosted pools that lend idle liquidity through ERC-4626 vaults. On 3 November 2025 an attacker drained v2 composable stable pools on several chains through a rounding flaw in their swap math. In September 2026 BAL holders approved a phased wind-down, and pools that can be paused began moving to withdrawals only on 30 October 2026.

This dashboard follows what is left. It reads the token balances of Balancer's v2 Vault and v3 Vault on every chain at each day's end and counts withdrawals and the addresses still holding pool tokens. Each pool is marked active, paused or in recovery mode. Balancer's contracts are non-custodial, so providers can still exit after support ends, and the dashboard shows how much has not yet left.

It also tracks the treasury that BAL holders will be able to redeem against by burning BAL, and records each redemption on-chain once the process opens. Amounts taken in the exploit are kept apart from ordinary withdrawals, and every figure links to the vault, pool and block it was read from.

## Blueprint

### Liquidity left

What is still in Balancer pools, by version and chain, and how fast it leaves.

- **Liquidity left** (USD): Tokens still held in Balancer's v2 and v3 vaults at the last block of the latest day, valued at oracle prices.
- **Withdrawn, last 7 days** (USD): Liquidity removed from Balancer pools over the last seven days, net of deposits.
- **Pools still holding liquidity** (count): Pools with a non-zero balance at the latest day's last block, across both vaults.
- **Providers yet to exit** (count): Addresses that still hold pool tokens of a pool with a non-zero balance at the same block.
- **Liquidity by day** (USD): Liquidity in Balancer pools at each day's end since before the exploit, stacked by version and chain.
- **Every pool with liquidity left**: Each pool with its chain, version, state, liquidity left, providers still in it and the date of its last withdrawal.

### Treasury and exploit

The treasury BAL holders can redeem against, and the November 2025 losses.

- **Treasury** (USD): Assets in the Balancer DAO's published treasury addresses at the latest day's last block.
- **Taken in the exploit** (USD): Tokens transferred out of the affected pools in the attack transactions of 3 November 2025, valued at the attack blocks.
- **Treasury by asset** (USD): The treasury's holdings split by asset at the latest read.
- **Outflows by month** (USD): Liquidity leaving Balancer pools each month, split into exploit losses and ordinary withdrawals.

Filters: Chain (Every chain with a Balancer vault, or all); Version (v2, v3 or both).

## How it will be measured

- Liquidity is the tokens each pool holds in the v2 Vault, from getPoolTokens, and in the v3 Vault at the last block of each UTC day, valued at oracle prices per pool and chain.
- Withdrawals are read from the v2 Vault's PoolBalanceChanged events and the v3 Vault's liquidity-removed events, net of deposits, so each day's outflow comes from the transactions themselves.
- A pool's state, whether active, paused or in recovery mode, is read from its pause and recovery-mode flags at the same block.
- Treasury holdings are the balances of the DAO's published treasury addresses; BAL redemptions are read from the redemption contract's events once it is deployed.
- Exploit losses are the transfers out of the affected pools in the attack transactions of 3 November 2025, valued at prices at the attack blocks.

## Data it needs

- `dex_liquidity_daily` (to build): Liquidity held by each DEX pool at day end, in tokens and valued in USD, with fee tier and pool age.
- `dex_swaps_daily` (to build): Swap counts and volume per DEX, pool and chain per day, decoded from Swap events, valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices.
- `security_incidents` (to build): A registry of exploits, hacks and rug pulls: date, chain, protocol, attack type, amount lost and the transactions involved.
- `treasury_balances_daily` (to build): Balances of DAO, protocol and multisig treasuries per asset at day end, and their inflows and outflows.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.

- Source: Balancer v3 Vault pool balances and liquidity added and removed events
- Source: Each pool's paused state and recovery-mode flag at day-end blocks
- Source: Attack transactions of 3 November 2025 and the transfers out of the affected pools
- Source: Balancer DAO treasury addresses and, once deployed, the BAL redemption contract's events

## Questions

### Is Balancer shutting down?

Yes, in phases. BAL holders approved the wind-down in September 2026. Pools that can be paused moved to withdrawals only on 30 October 2026, and some v3 pools could ask to keep running until 30 November 2026, after which the v3 Vault is to be paused. Withdrawals keep working because the contracts are non-custodial.

### Can I still withdraw from Balancer?

Withdrawals stay open. A pool in recovery mode returns each provider's share of the tokens it still holds, without relying on the pool's pricing math. For a pool hit in the exploit, that share reflects what was left after it. The pool table lists every pool that still holds liquidity.

### What happened in the Balancer hack?

On 3 November 2025 an attacker exploited a rounding error in the exact-out swap path of v2 composable stable pools. Batch swaps pushed pool balances to levels where the rounding favored the attacker, who then drained pools on several chains. Other v2 pool types were not affected by that flaw.

### What will BAL holders receive?

Under the approved plan, holders can burn BAL for a proportional share of the treasury's remaining assets, with the first phase planned from late May 2027. The final amount is to be set and audited before then; the treasury page shows the balances it will be paid from.

### Why did Balancer's TVL fall?

Liquidity left after the exploit, as providers pulled funds from pools of every type, and keeps leaving as the wind-down proceeds. The daily chart splits outflows by version and chain, with the exploit's drained amounts shown apart from voluntary withdrawals.

## Glossary

- **Recovery mode**: A Balancer pool state that disables complex features and lets providers exit in proportion to the pool's balances, without relying on its pricing math.
- **Boosted pool**: A v3 pool whose idle tokens sit in ERC-4626 lending vaults, so providers earn lending yield on top of swap fees.
- **Composable stable pool**: A v2 stable pool that holds its own pool token among its assets so other pools can nest it; the pool type drained in the November 2025 exploit.
- **BPT**: Balancer pool token: the token a provider receives for depositing into a pool and burns to withdraw.
