**Question:** How much money flowed into or out of US spot bitcoin ETFs today, fund by fund?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Markets and trading](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/trading)
- Chains: Bitcoin
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

A spot bitcoin ETF holds bitcoin for its shareholders. When investors buy more shares than they sell, authorized participants create new shares and the fund takes in bitcoin, or cash to buy it; when shares are redeemed, the fund pays out. The daily change in each fund's shares, valued at its net asset value, is the flow the market watches.

This dashboard records every US spot bitcoin ETF's published holdings and shares outstanding each day, computes its net flow and converts it to BTC at an on-chain oracle price. Where an issuer has published its custody addresses, the fund's BTC is also read from the Bitcoin chain and the two figures are compared.

Flows are reported after the US market closes, so the latest day fills in fund by fund as issuers publish. Each figure names the issuer file it came from and the time it was recorded.

## Blueprint

### Latest day

Net flows on the latest reported trading day, fund by fund.

- **Net flow, latest day** (USD): Net creations minus redemptions across all US spot bitcoin ETFs on the latest reported trading day, valued at NAV.
- **Net flow in BTC** (BTC): The same net flow expressed in bitcoin at the oracle price at the US market close.
- **BTC held by the funds** (BTC): Bitcoin held by all US spot bitcoin ETFs at the latest as-of date, from their issuers' files.
- **Share of bitcoin supply** (%): BTC held by the funds as a share of bitcoin issued through the matching block.
- **Net flow by fund** (USD): Each fund's net flow on the latest reported day, inflows and outflows, with the funds still pending marked.

### History

Flows and holdings since the funds launched.

- **Net flows since launch** (USD): Net flows of all US spot bitcoin ETFs summed from their first trading day to the latest report.
- **Net flows, last 30 days** (USD): Net flows of all funds summed over the last 30 calendar days of reports.
- **BTC held by fund** (BTC): Bitcoin held by each fund at each as-of date, stacked to the total.
- **Daily and cumulative net flows** (USD): Net flow of all funds per trading day as bars, with the running total since launch drawn as a line.
- **Custody cross-check**: For funds with published custody addresses, the BTC in the issuer's file beside the BTC read on-chain at the nearest block, with the difference between them.

Filters: Fund (Every US spot bitcoin ETF, or all together); Period (Last 30 or 90 days, 1 year or since launch).

## How it will be measured

- Each fund's daily net flow is the change in shares outstanding times the day's NAV per share, from the holdings and NAV files its issuer publishes.
- Flows in BTC divide the USD flow by the Chainlink BTC/USD price at the Ethereum block nearest the US market close, or use the change in BTC held where the issuer publishes it.
- Custody cross-checks read the UTXO balances of custody addresses that an issuer has published, at the block nearest the holdings' as-of time.
- A fund that has not published by the time of the read is shown as pending, never as zero; every figure names the file and the time it was recorded.

## Data it needs

- `etf_holdings_daily` (to build): Holdings and daily flows of spot crypto ETFs per fund, from issuer-published holdings, matched to custody addresses where they are disclosed.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.
- `bitcoin_supply_daily` (to build): Bitcoin issued, supply by coin age band and by output script type (including coins whose public keys are already exposed), supply last moved long ago, and cost-basis measures.
- Source: Issuer-published daily BTC holdings and shares outstanding per US spot bitcoin ETF (off-chain)
- Source: Daily NAV per share per fund (off-chain)
- Source: UTXO balances of custody addresses that issuers have published, at the daily block height (on-chain cross-check)
- Source: Chainlink BTC/USD latestRoundData() on Ethereum at the block nearest the US market close, for BTC conversion

## Questions

### What are bitcoin ETF flows?

Flows are the money moving into or out of a fund as shares are created or redeemed. A net inflow means more shares were created than redeemed that day, so the fund took in more bitcoin; a net outflow means the opposite.

### When are bitcoin ETF flows published?

Issuers publish holdings and shares outstanding after the US trading day, usually by the next morning. Some funds report later than others, so a day's total is complete only once every fund has published.

### Do ETF inflows mean bitcoin was bought on the market?

Not always directly. A creation is settled in cash or in kind through authorized participants, who may source bitcoin from exchanges, from over-the-counter desks or from their own inventory. The flow shows the fund's change, not where the coins came from.

### Can ETF holdings be checked on-chain?

Partly. Some issuers have published the addresses where their custodians hold the fund's bitcoin, and those balances can be read from the chain at any block. Where no addresses are published, the holdings rest on the issuer's file.

### Why are some days shown as pending?

A day stays pending until every fund has published its file. A missing fund is shown as pending rather than zero, so a late report never makes the day's total look smaller than it was.

## Glossary

- **Creation and redemption**: How an ETF's share count changes: authorized participants deliver cash or bitcoin to create shares, or return shares to redeem them.
- **NAV per share**: A fund's net asset value divided by its shares outstanding, struck once a day from the price of the assets it holds.
- **Authorized participant**: A firm allowed to create and redeem a fund's shares directly with the issuer, which keeps the share price close to its NAV.
