# Blockchain Fees by Chain: Daily Totals

> Blockchain fees by chain each day: total transaction fees on Ethereum, Solana, Tron, BNB Chain and more, in native tokens and USD, read from every transaction.

**Question:** Which blockchains collect the most transaction fees each day?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Layer 1 chains](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/chains)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Solana, Tron, BNB Chain, Bitcoin, Base
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Every chain charges fees to include transactions, but each counts them differently: gas on EVM chains, signatures and compute units on Solana, energy and bandwidth on Tron, a destroyed amount on the XRP Ledger. This dashboard adds up the fees users actually paid on each chain each day from the chain's own records, and shows them side by side in the native token and in USD.

Use it to see which chains users pay most to use, how fee totals move with activity and token prices and how each day compares with the last month. Every daily total is summed from transaction-level reads and pinned to the chain's last block of the day, so any figure can be traced to the blocks behind it.

## Blueprint

### Today

Each chain's fees on the latest complete day, in native tokens and USD.

- **Fees across covered chains** (USD): The sum of every covered chain's fees on the latest complete UTC day, each converted at its own day-end price.
- **Change against the 30-day average** (%): The latest day's total fees against the average day of the previous 30 days.
- **Highest-fee chain**: The chain whose users paid the most in USD on the latest complete day, with its share of the covered total.
- **Share of the top three chains** (%): The part of the covered total paid on the three highest-fee chains on the latest complete day.
- **Fees by chain, latest day** (USD): Each chain's fees on the latest complete day in USD, sorted from highest to lowest.
- **Fees by chain in native tokens**: Each chain's fees in its native token and in USD, with transactions, the fee per transaction and the change against the previous 7 days.

### History

How fee totals moved over the last month, quarter and year.

- **Fees in the period** (USD): The covered chains' fees added up over the selected period, each day valued at its own day-end prices.
- **Highest-fee day in the period** (USD): The day in the selected period on which users paid the most across covered chains, with its total.
- **Share of fees by chain** (%): Each chain's part of the covered total per day, which shows shifts in where users pay without the effect of the total's size.
- **Fees by chain per day** (USD): Daily fees of each covered chain in USD over the selected period, stacked so the total and each chain's part are both visible.

Filters: Period (Last 30 days, 90 days or a year); Unit (USD or each chain's native token).

## How it will be measured

- On EVM chains each transaction's fee is gas used times its effective gas price from the receipt, summed over every transaction in the UTC day, failed ones included, since they still pay.
- Solana uses the fee in each transaction's meta, base and priority fees together; Tron uses the TRX burned for energy and bandwidth plus other burned fees; Sui, Aptos, the XRP Ledger, Stellar, TON, NEAR and Cardano use their own fee fields.
- Resources paid with staked tokens rather than fees, such as Tron energy from staked TRX, are not fees in this count and are left out of the totals.
- USD values use the token's price from an on-chain oracle feed at the day's last block; tokens without an on-chain feed use an off-chain reference price, flagged on the tile.
- Every daily total carries a receipt: the first and last block of the day, the reads that summed it and the price read used for USD.

## Data it needs

- `chain_fees_daily` (to build): Fees paid per chain per day in the native token: base fee and priority fee percentiles, total fees, and the share burned where the chain burns fees.
- `chain_activity_daily` (to build): Transactions, active sending addresses, new addresses, contracts created and gas used on each chain per day, counted from blocks and transactions.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.
- Source: EVM receipts: gas_used and effective_gas_price of every transaction, summed per UTC day
- Source: Solana meta.fee of every transaction; Tron TransactionInfo fee with energy_fee and net_fee
- Source: Sui gas used (computation plus storage minus the storage rebate); Aptos gas_used times gas_unit_price
- Source: XRP Ledger Fee and Stellar fee_charged of validated transactions; Cardano transaction fee; NEAR tokens_burnt; TON total_fees
- Source: Chainlink price feeds (latestRoundData) at each day's last block; off-chain reference prices where no on-chain feed exists

## Questions

### Which blockchain collects the most fees?

It changes with activity and token prices, which is why this dashboard ranks chains every day instead of naming a winner. Fee totals rise on days of heavy trading, token launches or stablecoin transfers, and the USD ranking also moves with each token's price.

### Are fees the same as revenue?

Fees are what users pay. What a chain keeps as revenue depends on its rules: some fees are burned and some go to validators, while some chains pay validators far more in new tokens than they collect in fees. The monthly revenue rankings split those parts out.

### Why are failed transactions counted?

A failed transaction still used block space and paid its fee, so leaving it out would understate what users paid. The dashboard counts the fee of every included transaction, successful or not.

### Why show fees in native tokens and in USD?

Native totals show how much block space users bought; USD totals show what it cost them at the day's price. A chain can rise in USD while its native fees stay flat, so both are shown.

## Glossary

- **Effective gas price**: The price per unit of gas a transaction actually paid on an EVM chain: the base fee plus the tip it ended up paying.
- **Energy and bandwidth**: Tron's resources for contract calls and for transaction size. Users either stake TRX to receive them or burn TRX to pay for them.
- **Compute unit**: Solana's measure of the work a transaction does; its priority fee is priced per compute unit.
