# BNB Chain Gas Tracker > BNB Chain gas tracker: the lowest, median and high gas prices included in recent BSC blocks in gwei, block fullness and what a transfer or swap costs in BNB. BNB Chain has no rising base fee: its EIP-1559 base fee is fixed at zero, so a transaction pays its whole gas price to the block's validator, who only includes transactions at or above an agreed minimum. This dashboard reads the gas prices recent blocks actually included, from the lowest to the high end, so you can see the price that gets a transaction in now and when paying more makes a difference. Use it to set a gas price in your wallet or to check what a BNB transfer, a BEP-20 transfer or a swap costs, and watch block fullness to see how busy the chain is through the day. Each figure is pinned to the block it was read at, with the block hash and the exact read, so anyone can re-check it. ## Blueprint ### Now The gas prices recent blocks included and what common actions cost at them. - **Lowest included gas price** (gwei): The lowest gas price included in recent blocks, leaving out zero-price sponsored transactions: the floor a transaction needs. - **Median included gas price** (gwei): The median gas price of the transactions in recent blocks. - **High gas price, 90th percentile** (gwei): The 90th percentile gas price of transactions in recent blocks: what senders paid when they wanted priority. - **Block fullness** (%): Gas used as a share of the gas limit in recent blocks: near full, higher gas prices are included first. - **Included gas prices, recent blocks** (gwei): The lowest, median and 90th percentile gas price of each block over the last hours, so a spike shows the block where it starts. - **What actions cost now**: The cost of a BNB transfer, a BEP-20 transfer and a DEX swap at the current median gas price, in BNB and USD, with the gas each uses. ### History How gas prices and fees moved over the last day, week and month. - **Median gas price in the period** (gwei): The median included gas price over every block of the selected period. - **Fees paid in the period** (BNB): Total gas fees paid on BNB Chain over the selected period, with the part burned under BEP-95. - **Fees paid by day** (BNB): Total gas fees paid on BNB Chain each day, split into the part burned under BEP-95 and the part paid to validators. - **Gas price by day** (gwei): The median and 90th percentile included gas price of each day, from every block of the day. Filters: Period (Last day, week or month). ## How it will be measured - Included gas prices are read from every transaction in each new block: the lowest, the median and the 90th percentile effective gas price, in gwei. - The network floor is the lowest gas price included in recent blocks, leaving out any zero-price sponsored transactions, which do not show what a sender must pay. - Action costs multiply the current median gas price by the gas a BNB transfer, a BEP-20 transfer and a DEX swap typically use, and name those gas amounts. - Block fullness is gas used as a share of the gas limit, read from each block header. - BNB values convert to USD with the Chainlink BNB/USD feed on BNB Chain at the same block, and every figure carries a receipt with the block number and hash. ## Data it needs - `gas_blocks` (to build): Base fee, priority fee percentiles, gas used and gas limit for each block on fee-market chains, for a near-live gas tracker. - `chain_fees_daily` (to build): Fees paid per chain per day in the native token: base fee and priority fee percentiles, total fees, and the share burned where the chain burns fees. - `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time. - Source: BNB Chain block headers: gas_used, gas_limit and timestamp - Source: Effective gas price of every transaction in each block, for the lowest, median and 90th percentile - Source: Typical gas of a BNB transfer, a BEP-20 transfer and a DEX swap, measured from recent transactions - Source: Chainlink BNB/USD aggregator on BNB Chain at the same block ## Questions ### What gas price should I use on BNB Chain? When blocks have spare room, a transaction at the network's minimum gas price is included in the next block or soon after. When they fill, during a token launch or a market move, transactions offering more go first. The dashboard shows the lowest and median prices recent blocks included, so you can match them. ### Does BNB Chain burn gas fees? Part of them. BNB Chain sets its EIP-1559 base fee to zero, so there is no base fee burn, but under BEP-95 a share of the gas fees collected in each block is burned. The rest goes to validators, who share it with the stakers delegated to them. ### Why are BNB Chain fees low? Validators have agreed to lower the minimum gas price over time, and blocks come quickly and hold a lot of gas, so demand seldom pushes prices up. Fees still rise when blocks fill, which the block fullness tile shows as it happens. ### What is a gwei? One billionth of a BNB. BNB Chain, like other EVM chains, quotes gas prices in gwei per unit of gas, and a transaction's fee is the gas it uses times that price. ## Glossary - **Gas price**: What a transaction pays per unit of gas, in gwei.
