**Question:** How much trades on Curve, where does its liquidity sit and which pools do veCRV votes send CRV emissions to?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [DeFi](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/defi)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, Polygon, Gnosis, Avalanche, Sonic
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Curve is the DEX built for assets meant to trade close to each other: stablecoins, liquid staking tokens and different wrappers of the same coin. Its StableSwap pools hold prices tight around a peg and its cryptoswap pools trade volatile pairs with liquidity that re-centers as prices move. Its CRV token rewards liquidity providers through gauges. This dashboard follows the trades, the liquidity and where the rewards go.

Locking CRV for up to four years gives veCRV, which decays toward zero as the lock runs down. veCRV holders earn a share of trading fees, boost their own rewards and, each week, vote on how CRV emissions are split between pool gauges. Protocols that want deep liquidity for their token pay veCRV voters to point emissions at their pool, the contest known as the Curve wars. The votes page shows gauge weights, incentives paid and the emissions that followed.

## Blueprint

### Pools

Curve's volume, fees and liquidity by pool type and chain.

- **Volume, latest day** (USD): Swap volume across every Curve pool on the covered chains on the latest complete day.
- **TVL** (USD): Tokens held in Curve pools at the last block of the latest day, valued at oracle prices.
- **Fees, latest day** (USD): Trading fees paid on the latest complete day, including the admin share collected for veCRV holders.
- **StableSwap share of volume** (%): Volume in StableSwap pools as a share of all Curve volume over the selected period.
- **Volume by pool type** (USD): Daily volume over the period, stacked by StableSwap, cryptoswap and other pool types.
- **Largest pools**: Each pool's assets, type, chain, volume, fees, liquidity, the balance between its assets and its gauge weight.

### Votes

veCRV, gauge weights and where each week's CRV emissions went.

- **veCRV voting power** (veCRV): Total veCRV at the latest epoch start, read from the VotingEscrow contract.
- **Share of CRV locked** (%): CRV locked in the VotingEscrow as a share of CRV's circulating supply at the same block.
- **Gauge weights this epoch** (%): Each gauge's share of this epoch's CRV emissions, from the GaugeController, grouped by pool type.
- **Emissions by gauge** (CRV): CRV minted to the largest gauges in each recent epoch, with the rest grouped, beside the incentives their voters were paid.

Filters: Chain (Every chain with Curve pools, or all); Period (Last 7, 30 or 90 days).

## How it will be measured

- Volume and fees come from the TokenExchange and TokenExchangeUnderlying events of every pool in Curve's registries and factories on each chain, valued at the stablecoin leg or an oracle price at the swap's block.
- Liquidity is each pool's token balances at the last block of the day, so a pool holding a depegged asset shows what it actually holds rather than face value.
- veCRV supply, locked CRV and lock ends are read from the VotingEscrow contract at each epoch start, so its decay is measured rather than assumed.
- Gauge weights are read from the GaugeController for each weekly epoch, CRV minted to each gauge from the Minter's events and incentives offered to voters from vote-incentive contracts where they are on-chain.

## Data it needs

- `dex_swaps_daily` (to build): Swap counts and volume per DEX, pool and chain per day, decoded from Swap events, valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices.
- `dex_liquidity_daily` (to build): Liquidity held by each DEX pool at day end, in tokens and valued in USD, with fee tier and pool age.
- `governance_votes` (to build): Proposals, votes, voting power and turnout in on-chain governors, with off-chain votes recorded with their source.
- `token_supply_daily` (to build): Total supply of each registry token on each chain at day end: wrapped BTC, liquid staking tokens, tokenized assets and other tracked tokens.
- `protocol_revenue_daily` (to build): Fees users paid to each protocol and the part kept by the protocol or its token holders, per protocol and day, including buybacks.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.
- Source: Curve registries and factories on each chain, including StableSwap-NG, Twocrypto-NG and Tricrypto-NG pools
- Source: TokenExchange and TokenExchangeUnderlying events of every pool
- Source: Pool balances at day-end blocks
- Source: VotingEscrow totalSupply, locked balances and lock ends
- Source: GaugeController gauge weights and VoteForGauge events per epoch
- Source: CRV Minter events and fee distributor payouts
- Source: Vote-incentive contract deposits where they are on-chain

## Questions

### What is veCRV?

Vote-escrowed CRV: CRV locked in Curve's VotingEscrow contract for up to four years. Voting power starts in proportion to the CRV locked and the lock length, then falls steadily to zero at the lock's end. It cannot be transferred, and it earns a share of Curve's trading fees.

### How do Curve gauge votes work?

Every pool that earns CRV has a gauge. veCRV holders spread their voting power across gauges, and at the start of each weekly epoch the GaugeController turns the votes into weights that set each gauge's share of that week's CRV emissions. A vote for a gauge can be changed, but not again for several days.

### What are the Curve wars?

The competition among stablecoin issuers and other protocols for CRV emissions to their pools. They buy and lock CRV, or pay veCRV holders to vote for their gauge, because emissions attract liquidity and deep liquidity helps their token hold its price.

### What is the difference between StableSwap and cryptoswap pools?

StableSwap pools assume their assets are worth about the same and keep the price nearly flat around that point, which suits stablecoins and staking tokens. Cryptoswap pools trade assets whose prices move apart, concentrating liquidity around an internal price that shifts as the market moves.

### Where do Curve's trading fees go?

Each swap pays the pool's fee. Part stays in the pool for liquidity providers, and the admin share is collected by the DAO and paid out to veCRV holders. The dashboard reads both shares from each pool and the fee distributor's payouts.

### Is crvUSD covered here?

Only where crvUSD sits in Curve pools. Its minting markets and Curve's lending markets are lending products with their own supply and rates; this dashboard covers the DEX, its liquidity and its emissions.

## Glossary

- **veCRV**: CRV locked for voting power and fee income; the longer the lock, the more power, decaying to zero at the lock's end.
- **Gauge**: The contract that measures a pool's staked liquidity and pays it CRV emissions according to its vote weight.
- **StableSwap**: Curve's pool design for like-priced assets, which keeps trades near the peg with little slippage until the pool is heavily imbalanced.
- **Epoch**: A week of Curve's emission schedule; gauge weights are fixed at its start from the votes cast before it.
