# DEX Volume by Chain and Protocol > DEX volume by chain and by protocol, each day and month: Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Aerodrome, Curve and others, with DEX market share decoded from swap events. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is. Every trade on a decentralized exchange emits a swap event from the pool it went through. This dashboard decodes those events on each covered chain, values each swap at an oracle price and adds them up by chain and by exchange, so spot DEX volume and market share rest on the trades themselves. Use it to compare where on-chain spot trading happens, which exchanges and versions lead on each chain and how share moves from month to month. Volume is counted per pool, the way each pool records it, with a count of trades by transaction beside it. Every figure links to the pools and blocks it came from. ## Blueprint ### By chain Spot DEX volume on each chain, on the latest day and over the month. - **Volume, latest day** (USD): Spot DEX volume across covered chains on the latest complete UTC day. - **Volume, 30 days** (USD): Spot DEX volume across covered chains over the last thirty days. - **Largest chain's share** (%): The largest chain's share of spot DEX volume over the last thirty days, with its name. - **Trades, latest day** (count): Swap transactions on the latest complete day, each routed trade counted once. - **Chains ranked by volume**: Each chain with its daily and 30-day volume, share, change against the prior thirty days and its leading exchange. - **Volume by chain** (USD): Daily spot DEX volume over the period, stacked by chain. ### By protocol Which exchanges lead on the selected chain and how share moves. - **Leading exchange's share** (%): The leading exchange's share of volume on the selected chain over the last thirty days. - **Exchanges with volume** (count): Exchanges with swap volume on the selected chain during the period. - **Share by exchange** (%): Each exchange's share of the selected chain's volume over the period. - **Monthly volume by exchange** (USD): Monthly volume on the selected chain, stacked by exchange and version. Filters: Chain (Every covered chain, or all chains); Period (Last 30 or 90 days, or the last 12 months). ## How it will be measured - Swaps are decoded from Uniswap v2 and v3 pool Swap events, Uniswap v4 PoolManager Swap events by pool id, Curve TokenExchange and TokenExchangeUnderlying, Balancer Vault Swap, Aerodrome and Velodrome pool Swap and PancakeSwap v3 Swap events. - Each swap is valued at one leg: the stablecoin leg where there is one, otherwise a leg with a Chainlink feed, at that day's oracle price; a swap with no priced leg is counted as unpriced. - Volume is counted per pool, so a trade routed through two pools counts in both, as each pool records it; a count of trades by transaction is shown beside it. - Totals are summed per UTC day by block timestamp, and market share is an exchange's volume over the chain's total, or the covered total, on the same day. ## Data it needs - `dex_swaps_daily` (to build): Swap counts and volume per DEX, pool and chain per day, decoded from Swap events, valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices. - `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time. - Source: Uniswap v2 and v3 pool Swap events - Source: Uniswap v4 PoolManager Swap events by PoolId - Source: Curve TokenExchange and TokenExchangeUnderlying events - Source: Balancer v2 and v3 Vault Swap events - Source: Aerodrome and Velodrome pool Swap events - Source: PancakeSwap v3 Swap events on BNB Chain - Source: Chainlink latestRoundData or the stablecoin leg for USD notional ## Questions ### What is DEX volume? The value of tokens swapped on decentralized exchanges over a period. Each swap through a pool is recorded on-chain as an event, so DEX volume can be added up from the chain itself. ### Which chain has the most DEX volume? It changes with activity: Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain have each led at different times. The ranking here is recomputed every day from swap events, so it shows the current order with its receipts. ### Does DEX volume double count routed trades? Counted per pool, yes: a trade that an aggregator routes through two pools appears in both pools' volume, which is how each pool records it. The count of trades by transaction, shown beside it, counts each routed trade once. ### How is DEX market share measured? As an exchange's share of spot DEX volume on a chain or across the covered chains, on the same day or month. Versions of one exchange, such as Uniswap v2, v3 and v4, are shown apart and can be combined. ### Is perpetual DEX volume included? No. This dashboard covers spot swaps.
