**Question:** Which Dogecoin addresses hold the most DOGE, and who controls them?

- Kind: Table in Voltfin Strata
- Topic: [Memecoins and launches](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/memecoins)
- Chains: Dogecoin
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Dogecoin works like Bitcoin underneath: coins sit in unspent outputs, and an address's balance is the sum of the outputs it can spend. This table adds those outputs up for every address at each day's last block and ranks the largest, so each balance is a read of the chain rather than an estimate copied from elsewhere.

A rich list ranks addresses, not owners. Many of the largest Dogecoin addresses are thought to be exchange and broker custody wallets that hold coins for many customers, and some of those attributions are disputed. Each label here carries its source, and an address without one is shown as unknown rather than guessed.

Dogecoin has no supply cap: every block adds the same number of new coins. Share of supply is therefore measured against the DOGE issued up to the same block, and the 30-day change column shows which large addresses are filling up or emptying out.

## Blueprint

One row: One row per Dogecoin address among the largest balances, at the latest day's last block

- **Rank** (`rank`): Position by balance at the latest day's last block.
- **Address** (`address`): The Dogecoin address, linked to its unspent outputs.
- **Label** (`label`): Who controls the address where a source says so, or unknown; contested attributions are marked as contested.
- **Balance** (`balance`, DOGE): Sum of unspent outputs paying the address, as an exact amount.
- **Share of supply** (`share_of_supply`): Balance as a share of all DOGE issued up to the same block.
- **30-day change** (`change_30d`, DOGE): Balance now minus the balance at the last block thirty days earlier.
- **Address type** (`address_type`): P2PKH or P2SH, from the script the address pays to.
- **Outputs** (`utxo_count`): How many unspent outputs make up the balance.
- **First seen** (`first_seen`): Date of the block of the first output the address received.
- **Last spent** (`last_spent`): Date of the latest block in which one of its outputs was spent, or never.
- **Receipt** (`receipt`): The block and the reads behind the row's balance.

## How it will be measured

- Balances are the sum of unspent outputs paying each address, read from the Dogecoin UTXO set at each day's last block.
- Share of supply divides each balance by the DOGE issued up to the same block, which is the sum of every block reward paid so far.
- First seen is the block of the first output an address received; last spent is the latest block in which one of its outputs was spent.
- Labels come from the address registry with the source of each attribution. A contested attribution is shown as contested, never as fact.

## Data it needs

- `address_labels` (to build): Labels for known addresses: exchanges, bridges, protocols, funds, treasuries, sanctioned addresses and known attackers.
- `exchange_balances_daily` (to build): Balances held in labelled exchange wallets per asset, chain and exchange at day end, and net flows in and out.
- `whale_transfers` (to build): Transfers above a size threshold per token and chain, with sender and receiver labels (exchange, fund, bridge, unknown).
- Source: Dogecoin UTXO set at each day's last block, grouped by address
- Source: Coinbase outputs of every block, for the DOGE issued to date
- Source: Spends of each top address's outputs, for last activity and 30-day change
- Source: Address labels for exchanges, brokers and custodians, each with its source and status

## Questions

### Who owns the largest Dogecoin address?

The top address is widely believed to be a custody wallet of a large broker or exchange, but its owner has not confirmed it. The table shows that label as contested, with its sources, beside the balance read from the chain.

### Does a rich list show the richest people?

No. One exchange address can hold coins for many customers, and one person can spread coins across many addresses. The table ranks addresses as the chain records them and labels the ones that have a source.

### How is share of supply measured without a supply cap?

Dogecoin pays a fixed reward with every block and has no cap, so its supply keeps growing. Each balance's share is measured against the DOGE issued up to the block it was read at, which means an address that never moves sees its share shrink slowly over time.

### How is a DOGE address balance calculated?

By adding the values of every unspent output locked to that address. Dogecoin uses the same output model as Bitcoin, so no account balance is stored on-chain; the sum is rebuilt from the UTXO set at each day's last block.

### How often does the list update?

Once a day, at the last block of each UTC day. Every row links to that block and to the outputs behind its balance, so any figure can be checked against a Dogecoin node.

## Glossary

- **UTXO**: An unspent transaction output: a piece of DOGE that an address can spend. A balance is the sum of its UTXOs.
- **Cold wallet**: An address whose keys are kept offline, used by exchanges and large holders for coins they rarely move.
- **Custody wallet**: An address an exchange or broker uses to hold coins on behalf of its customers.
