About

What it answers, and for whom.

Ethereum's revenue is what its users pay to get transactions and blobs into blocks. It has two parts: the base fee, which the protocol burns, removing it from supply rather than paying it to anyone, and the priority fees paid to the validators who propose blocks. This dashboard adds up both, plus blob fees, every day, in ETH and in USD.

Read the split to see who receives what: burned fees reduce supply, tips reward validators and blob fees show what rollups pay for data. Over time, the series shows how much of Ethereum's fee income comes from mainnet activity and how much from layer 2s posting their data.

Method

How it will be measured.

Every figure will be read at a block, kept with its source and its exact read, and open a receipt anyone can re-check.

How receipts work →
  1. Burned fees are base_fee_per_gas times gas_used for every block, from the block headers.
  2. Tips are the effective gas price minus the base fee, times gas used, for every transaction, from receipts; they are paid to each block's fee recipient.
  3. Blob fees are blob gas used times the blob base fee derived from excess_blob_gas, and are burned like the base fee.
  4. Payments from block builders to proposers through MEV-Boost are shown apart and never added to fees, because users do not pay them through the protocol's fee fields.
  5. USD values use the Chainlink ETH/USD feed at each day's last block; every figure names its blocks and reads as its receipt.

Questions

Questions people ask.

What is Ethereum's network revenue?

It is the total fees users pay to have transactions and blobs included. The base fee and blob fees are burned, and the priority fee goes to the block proposer. Some definitions also count MEV payments to validators; this dashboard shows those separately.

Is burned ETH revenue?

Burned fees are paid by users but received by no one: they leave the supply. Many analysts count them as revenue to ETH holders as a group, because a smaller supply leaves each remaining ETH a larger share. The dashboard keeps burn and tips apart so either reading is possible.

Why do Ethereum fees change so much?

Fees follow demand for block space. Busy markets, popular mints and liquidations push the base fee up, while more gas per block and activity moving to layer 2s push it down. Blob fees follow a separate market, set by how much data rollups post.

How do blob fees fit in?

Rollups pay blob fees to post their transaction data to Ethereum. The blob base fee rises when blocks carry more blobs than the target and falls when they carry fewer, and it is burned. It shows what layer 2s pay Ethereum for data, apart from what mainnet users pay.

Are MEV payments included?

No. When a block is built through MEV-Boost, the builder pays the proposer, usually in the block's last transaction. That value comes from builders and searchers rather than from users' fee fields, so it is shown as its own series and left out of the totals.

Priority fee
The tip a transaction adds on top of the base fee, paid to the block's proposer or its builder.
Fee recipient
The address named in a block to receive its priority fees, set by the proposer or by the block's builder.
MEV-Boost
Software that lets validators take blocks from outside builders through relays, paid by a transfer in the block.
