**Question:** How busy is Katana, how much sits in Vault Bridge earning yield and how much liquidity does the chain own?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Layer 2s](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/layer-2)
- Chains: Katana, Ethereum
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Katana is a DeFi-focused Ethereum layer 2 built with Agglayer's CDK OP Stack: op-geth for execution, zero-knowledge validity proofs for settlement and Agglayer's unified bridge as its canonical bridge. Its core apps are Sushi for swaps, Morpho for lending and Katana Perps. This dashboard reads Katana's blocks for daily transactions, active addresses and fees.

Katana's design puts bridged capital to work. Assets deposited through Vault Bridge, such as USDC, USDT, USDS, WBTC and ETH, are allocated on Ethereum to curator-managed yield strategies while users hold vbTokens on Katana, and part of the chain's net sequencer fees buys liquidity that the network owns. The dashboard follows both, from Vault Bridge holdings and their yield to the chain-owned liquidity in Katana's core markets.

Every figure names its Katana or Ethereum block, so a Vault Bridge balance can be matched to the vbToken supply it backs and a liquidity position to the pool it sits in.

## Blueprint

### Activity

Transactions, active addresses and fees on Katana.

- **Transactions, latest day** (count): Transactions in Katana blocks on the latest complete UTC day, leaving out the system transactions that open each block.
- **Active addresses, latest day** (count): Distinct addresses that sent at least one transaction on Katana on the latest complete UTC day.
- **Fees paid, latest day** (ETH): Fees paid on Katana on the latest complete UTC day, from receipts.
- **Median transaction fee** (USD): The median fee paid per transaction on Katana on the latest complete day.
- **Transactions and active addresses by day** (count): Daily transactions and daily active addresses on Katana over the selected period.

### Vault Bridge and liquidity

What sits in Vault Bridge, what it earns and the liquidity Katana owns.

- **Assets in Vault Bridge** (USD): Assets held by Vault Bridge vaults on Ethereum at the latest day-end block, valued with oracle prices.
- **Vault Bridge yield, 30 days** (%): The annualized change in Vault Bridge vaults' assets per share over the last 30 days, weighted by assets.
- **Chain-owned liquidity** (USD): Positions held by Katana's network addresses in its core markets at the latest day-end block.
- **Supplied on Morpho** (USD): Assets supplied to Morpho markets on Katana at the latest day-end block, valued with oracle prices.
- **Vault Bridge by asset**: Each Vault Bridge asset: assets held on Ethereum, vbToken supply on Katana, the gap between them and the vault's yield over the period.

Filters: Period (Last week, month, quarter or year).

## How it will be measured

- Transactions and active addresses are counted per UTC day from Katana blocks, leaving out the system transactions that open each block.
- Vault Bridge holdings are the assets each vault reports holding on Ethereum at day-end blocks, set beside the supply of the matching vbToken on Katana.
- Vault yield is the change in each vault's assets per share between two pinned blocks, annualized, which is what its strategies actually earned.
- Chain-owned liquidity is the set of positions held by Katana's published network addresses in its core markets, read from DEX pools and Morpho markets at day-end blocks.
- Every figure names the Katana or Ethereum block it was read at.

## Data it needs

- `chain_activity_daily` (to build): Transactions, active sending addresses, new addresses, contracts created and gas used on each chain per day, counted from blocks and transactions.
- `chain_fees_daily` (to build): Fees paid per chain per day in the native token: base fee and priority fee percentiles, total fees, and the share burned where the chain burns fees.
- `bridge_flows_daily` (to build): Deposits into and withdrawals out of canonical and major third-party bridges by chain, token and day, plus escrow balances at day end.
- `yield_rates_daily` (to build): Supply rates, staking yields and vault share-price growth per pool and vault per day, in one comparable table.
- `lending_markets_daily` (to build): Supply, borrow, utilization and rates per lending market (Aave, Morpho, Spark, Compound, Euler and others) at day end.
- `dex_liquidity_daily` (to build): Liquidity held by each DEX pool at day end, in tokens and valued in USD, with fee tier and pool age.

## Questions

### What is Vault Bridge?

Vault Bridge is how supported assets enter Katana. The underlying asset stays on Ethereum in a vault whose curators allocate it to yield strategies, and the user receives a vbToken on Katana to use in DeFi. The yield can be directed back into Katana's ecosystem.

### What is chain-owned liquidity?

Liquidity that the Katana network owns rather than rents with incentives. Part of the chain's net sequencer fees is used to acquire positions in its core markets, such as the spot DEX and Morpho lending, which stay deployed. The dashboard reads those positions from the pools and markets.

### How is Katana secured?

Katana executes with op-geth from the OP Stack but is not an optimistic rollup: its state transitions are proven with zero-knowledge validity proofs and settled on Ethereum. Agglayer's pessimistic proof checks cross-chain accounting, so one connected chain cannot withdraw another's assets.

### What is KAT?

KAT is the Katana network token. It can be staked as vKAT or avKAT to vote on gauges that direct incentives, and staked KAT leaves through a cooldown. The dashboard reads staking and votes from their contracts without valuing the token.

### Why are bridged tokens on Katana called vbTokens?

Because each is backed by a Vault Bridge vault on Ethereum rather than by a plain escrow. vbUSDC, for example, stands for USDC held in a vault that earns yield; WETH on Katana works the same way while keeping the standard WETH interface.

## Glossary

- **vbToken**: A token on Katana backed by a Vault Bridge vault on Ethereum, such as vbUSDC or vbWBTC.
- **Agglayer**: An interoperability layer that connects chains through a unified bridge and checks their cross-chain accounting with pessimistic proofs.
- **Chain-owned liquidity**: Liquidity positions a network owns and keeps deployed, funded from its own revenue.
- **Curator**: An operator that decides where a vault's assets are allocated, within the limits the vault sets.
