Lens is a social protocol in which accounts, usernames, follows and posts are records in smart contracts. Built by the team behind Aave, it ran on Polygon from 2022 and moved in April 2025 to Lens Chain, a ZKsync-based network that uses GHO, Aave's dollar stablecoin, for gas. Profiles and posts from the Polygon era were migrated with it. Because Lens activity is on-chain, this dashboard can count accounts created, posts and follows each day directly from Lens Chain, along with the gas paid and how much of it apps sponsored for their users. In January 2026 Mask Network became the steward of Lens, and the protocol's contracts stayed open for any app to build on. ## Blueprint ### Activity Accounts, posts and follows per day. - **Accounts created** (count): Lens accounts created on the latest complete UTC day. - **Active accounts** (count): Accounts that posted, followed, reacted or updated their profile on the latest complete day. - **Posts** (count): Posts, comments and quotes recorded on Lens on the latest complete day. - **Follows** (count): Follows recorded on Lens graphs on the latest complete day. - **Active accounts by month** (count): Monthly active accounts since 2022, with the move from Polygon to Lens Chain in April 2025 marked. ### Lens Chain Gas, sponsorship and apps on Lens Chain. - **Gas paid** (GHO): Gas paid in GHO on Lens Chain on the latest complete day. - **Gas sponsored by apps** (%): Share of the latest day's Lens Chain transactions whose gas an app sponsored. - **Posts by app** (count): Posts in the period by the app they were made through. - **Lens Chain transactions** (count): Daily transactions on Lens Chain over the period, split into Lens social actions and other contracts. Filters: Period (Last 30 days, 12 months or since 2022). ## How it will be measured - Accounts, usernames, follows and posts are decoded from Lens contract events on Lens Chain per UTC day, with each event's app recorded where the protocol stores it. - An account is active on a day if it posted, followed, reacted or changed its profile on-chain that day; creating an account alone does not count. - Gas is each transaction's fee in GHO from its receipt, and a transaction counts as sponsored when an app's sponsorship paid its fee. - Polygon-era history comes from Lens's contracts on Polygon, and the migration transactions that re-created those records on Lens Chain are left out of its daily counts. ## Data it needs - `social_tokens_daily` (to build): Creator and post coins minted, traded and held, and on-chain social activity (casts, frames, follows) where it settles on-chain, per day. - `chain_activity_daily` (to build): Transactions, active sending addresses, new addresses, contracts created and gas used on each chain per day, counted from blocks and transactions. - `chain_fees_daily` (to build): Fees paid per chain per day in the native token: base fee and priority fee percentiles, total fees, and the share burned where the chain burns fees. - Source: Lens contract events on Lens Chain for accounts, usernames, follows, posts and reactions - Source: Lens Chain blocks and receipts: transactions, senders and fees in GHO - Source: Sponsorship payments for sponsored transactions - Source: Lens contract events on Polygon for history before April 2025 ## Questions ### What is Lens Chain? The network Lens Protocol moved to in April 2025, built with ZKsync's technology and using GHO, Aave's stablecoin, for gas. Lens profiles and posts previously lived on Polygon and were migrated to it. ### Who runs Lens now? Lens was built by the team behind Aave. In January 2026 Mask Network became its steward, with Aave moving to an advisory role and the protocol's contracts staying open and permissionless. ### How many people use Lens? The dashboard counts accounts created and accounts that acted on-chain each day. Lens accounts are smart contract accounts, so one person can control several, and counting actions shows use rather than sign-ups. ### Why does Lens Chain use GHO for gas? Paying gas in a dollar stablecoin keeps the cost of posting predictable for users and lets apps budget the gas they sponsor. The dashboard shows gas paid in GHO and the share apps covered. ### How is Lens different from Farcaster? On Lens, posts and follows are themselves on-chain records, so activity can be counted from contracts.
