# Monad Network Stats: Transactions and Active Addresses

> Monad network stats by day: transactions, active addresses, TPS, gas used, fees paid in MON, new contracts and total MON staked, read from every Monad block.

**Question:** How many transactions and active addresses does Monad have each day?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Layer 1 chains](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/chains)
- Chains: Monad
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Monad is a layer 1 that runs the Ethereum Virtual Machine while executing transactions in parallel and pipelining consensus and execution, with short block times and high gas limits. This dashboard follows how it has been used since mainnet: daily transactions, distinct senders, the gas its blocks carry, the fees users pay in MON, the contracts deployed and the MON staked with its validators.

Monad charges each transaction for the gas limit it sets rather than the gas it ends up using, so its fee figures follow that rule instead of Ethereum's. Read activity next to the share of failed transactions and the concentration of senders to tell broad use from bots. Every figure is pinned to the Monad block it was read at, with a receipt.

## Blueprint

### Activity

Transactions, active addresses, throughput and new contracts.

- **Transactions, latest day** (count): Transactions in Monad blocks on the latest complete UTC day, successful and failed.
- **Active addresses, latest day** (count): Distinct senders of successful transactions on the latest complete day.
- **Average TPS, latest day** (tx per second): The latest complete day's transactions divided by the seconds its blocks span.
- **New contracts, latest day** (count): Contracts created on the latest complete day, from create and create2 calls in traces.
- **Transactions and active addresses by day** (count): Daily transactions and distinct senders since mainnet, so growth in use can be told apart from growth in activity per address.

### Fees and staking

Fees paid in MON, the burn and the MON staked with validators.

- **Fees paid, latest day** (MON): Fees paid on the latest complete day in MON: each transaction's gas limit times its effective gas price.
- **MON staked** (MON): Total MON staked with validators at the latest day-end block, from the staking precompile.
- **Fees by day** (MON): Fees paid each day in MON, with the burned base fee part apart from the rest.
- **Validators and stake**: Each active validator's stake at the day's last block, its share of the total and its change over 30 days.

Filters: Period (Last 30 days, 90 days or since mainnet).

## How it will be measured

- Transactions, gas used and block times come from every Monad block header and transaction, summed per UTC day.
- Active addresses are distinct senders of successful transactions per day and per 30 days, the same rule as on other EVM chains.
- Fees follow Monad's rule: each transaction's gas limit times its effective gas price, with the burned base fee part shown apart from the rest.
- New contracts are contract creations per day, from create and create2 calls in execution traces.
- MON staked and the validator set are read from the staking precompile at the day's last block, and every figure carries a receipt with the block number and hash.

## Data it needs

- `chain_activity_daily` (to build): Transactions, active sending addresses, new addresses, contracts created and gas used on each chain per day, counted from blocks and transactions.
- `chain_fees_daily` (to build): Fees paid per chain per day in the native token: base fee and priority fee percentiles, total fees, and the share burned where the chain burns fees.
- `staking_networks_daily` (to build): Staked supply, staking ratio, validators and nominal rewards per proof-of-stake network per day.
- Source: Monad block headers: transaction count, gas_used, gas_limit, base_fee_per_gas and timestamp
- Source: Monad transactions: sender, status, gas limit and effective gas price
- Source: Execution traces: create and create2 calls, for new contracts
- Source: Staking precompile state at day-end blocks: the validator set and the stake of each validator

## Questions

### What is Monad?

A layer 1 blockchain that runs the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so Ethereum contracts and tools work on it, while executing transactions in parallel and pipelining consensus and execution to process more per second. Its native token, MON, pays for gas and is staked by validators.

### How are Monad fees calculated?

A Monad transaction pays for the gas limit it sets, not only the gas it uses, which stops senders from reserving block space they never use. The fee is that gas limit times the gas price, and the base fee part is burned, as on Ethereum.

### How many transactions per second does Monad process?

The dashboard measures it from blocks: the day's transactions divided by the seconds its blocks span. That shows the demand the chain served, not its design capacity, which is a different figure.

### What does staking MON do?

Validators stake MON, and holders can delegate to them, to take part in consensus and earn rewards. The total staked and its spread across validators show how much value secures the chain and how concentrated that security is.

## Glossary

- **Parallel execution**: Running independent transactions at the same time instead of one after another, with a result identical to running them in order.
- **Gas limit**: The most gas a transaction may use. On Monad it is also the amount the transaction is charged for.
- **Staking precompile**: A built-in contract at a fixed address that Monad uses for validator registration, delegation and rewards.
