**Question:** How much are NFTs selling for in total each day, and on which chains and marketplaces?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [NFTs and gaming](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/nft-gaming)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, Base, Polygon
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

NFT trades settle on-chain, so every sale can be counted from the marketplace contract that filled it. This dashboard adds up sales value, sale counts, buyers and sellers per day across Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, Base and Polygon, split by chain and marketplace, so the size of the NFT market can be read from the trades themselves.

Wash trades, in which a wallet sells to itself or to a wallet it funds to farm rewards or inflate a collection's numbers, are detected and counted apart, so the headline volume reflects trades between different owners. Sales are valued in the payment token and in USD at the block of each sale, and every figure opens the fills it was summed from.

## Blueprint

### Today

The latest day's sales, buyers and wash trading across chains.

- **Sales value** (USD): Value of NFT sales on the latest complete day across covered chains, wash trades excluded.
- **Sales** (count): NFT sales on the latest complete day, wash trades excluded.
- **Buyers** (count): Distinct buyer addresses on the latest complete day, counted once per chain.
- **Wash trading share** (%): Share of the latest day's sales value flagged as wash trading.
- **Sales value by day** (USD): Daily sales value over the selected period, with wash trades shown as their own band.

### Chains and marketplaces

Where NFTs trade, what sellers pay in fees and royalties and which collections lead.

- **Creator royalties paid** (USD): Creator royalties paid in the selected period, read from the consideration items of each fill.
- **Marketplace fees paid** (USD): Marketplace fees paid in the selected period, read from the same fills.
- **Sales value by chain** (USD): Sales value per chain over the selected period, with sale counts beside it.
- **Marketplace share by week** (USD): Sales value per marketplace per week, so shifts in market share show over time.
- **Top collections**: Collections ranked by sales value in the selected period, with sale count, buyers and the lowest and median sale price.

Filters: Period (Last 7 days, 30 days, 12 months or all time); Chain (Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, Base, Polygon or all).

## How it will be measured

- Sales are decoded from marketplace fill events, such as Seaport OrderFulfilled and Blur's order execution events, and from NFT transfers paired with payment legs in the same transaction.
- Each sale is valued in its payment token (ETH, WETH, SOL, BTC or a stablecoin) and in USD at oracle prices at the sale block.
- A sale is marked as a wash trade when buyer and seller are the same, when one funded the other shortly before or when the same NFT circles back among a small group of wallets.
- Bitcoin Ordinals sales come from settlement transactions that move an inscription and pay its seller in the same transaction.
- Buyers and sellers are distinct addresses per day and chain; marketplace fees and creator royalties are read from the same fills.

## Data it needs

- `nft_sales_daily` (to build): NFT sales per collection, marketplace and chain per day: sales, buyers, sellers and volume in the payment token.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.
- Source: Seaport OrderFulfilled events with their offer and consideration items
- Source: Blur exchange order execution events
- Source: ERC-721 and ERC-1155 Transfer logs paired with ETH, WETH or stablecoin payment legs in the same transaction
- Source: Native ETH value transfers from traces, for ETH-paid sales
- Source: Solana NFT marketplace program instructions
- Source: Bitcoin transactions that move an inscription and pay its seller together
- Source: Oracle prices at each sale block, for USD values

## Questions

### How much NFT volume is traded each day?

The headline figure is the latest complete day's sales value across covered chains, excluding wash trades, with the count of sales and distinct buyers beside it. Each figure opens the fills it was added up from.

### Are NFTs dead?

Sales value, buyer counts and the number of collections that trade answer that better than prices do. This dashboard shows all three over time, so a reader can see whether activity is growing, shrinking or concentrating in fewer collections and chains.

### Which chain has the most NFT sales?

The by-chain view ranks chains by sales value and by sale count, which can give different answers: some chains carry many low-priced sales, others fewer high-value ones. Both are shown for the selected period.

### What is NFT wash trading?

Wash trading is selling an NFT to yourself or to a wallet you control, to collect marketplace rewards or to make a collection look more traded than it is. It adds volume without a real change of owner, so it is detected and counted apart here.

### Do NFT sales figures include royalties and fees?

Sales value is the full price the buyer paid. Marketplace fees and creator royalties are read from the same fills and shown as their own figures, so what sellers received can be worked out.

## Glossary

- **Seaport**: An open marketplace protocol for NFT orders; its OrderFulfilled event records what each side gave and received in a sale.
- **Wash trade**: A sale between wallets controlled by the same person, which adds volume without a real change of owner.
- **Payment leg**: The transfer of ETH, WETH, a stablecoin or another token that pays for an NFT in the same transaction.
- **Creator royalty**: A share of a sale's price paid to the collection's creator, set by the collection and enforced or honoured by the marketplace.
