**Question:** How much NFT volume trades on OpenSea each day and on which chains, and how much does OpenSea collect in fees?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [NFTs and gaming](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/nft-gaming)
- Chains: Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Avalanche
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Every OpenSea trade settles on-chain through Seaport, the open marketplace protocol OpenSea released in 2022. A Seaport fill lists what the buyer paid and every recipient of that payment, so OpenSea's volume, the fee it took and the royalty a creator received can be read from each fill rather than from the marketplace's own counters.

Seaport is shared by other marketplaces, so this dashboard counts a fill as OpenSea's only when it carries OpenSea's markers, such as a payment to OpenSea's fee recipient or an order routed through OpenSea's approval contract. Results are split by chain and purchases of listings are told apart from sales into offers, while wash trades are flagged so reward farming does not read as demand.

## Blueprint

### Today

The latest day's OpenSea sales, buyers and fees across covered chains.

- **Sales value** (USD): Value of NFT sales settled through OpenSea on the latest complete day across covered chains, wash trades excluded.
- **Sales** (count): NFT sales attributed to OpenSea on the latest complete day, wash trades excluded.
- **Buyers** (count): Distinct buyer addresses on OpenSea on the latest complete day, counted once per chain.
- **OpenSea fees** (USD): OpenSea's marketplace fee paid on the latest day's sales, read from consideration items sent to its fee recipient.
- **Sales value by chain** (USD): Daily OpenSea sales value by chain over the selected period, with wash trades shown as their own band.

### Chains and collections

Where OpenSea volume trades, how much goes into offers and which collections lead.

- **Sold into offers** (%): Share of sales in the period that filled a collection, trait or item offer rather than a listing.
- **Creator royalties** (USD): Creator royalties paid on OpenSea sales in the period, read from the same fills.
- **Sales by chain** (USD): OpenSea sales value per chain over the period, with sale counts and buyers beside each bar.
- **Top collections on OpenSea**: Collections ranked by OpenSea sales value in the period, with sales, buyers, median price and the share sold into offers.

Filters: Period (Last 7 days, 30 days or 12 months); Chain (Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Avalanche or all).

## How it will be measured

- Sales are decoded from Seaport OrderFulfilled events on each covered chain, pairing the NFT moved in each fill with its payment items in ETH, WETH, POL, AVAX or a stablecoin.
- A fill counts as OpenSea's when a consideration item pays OpenSea's fee recipient or the order uses OpenSea's approval contract; other Seaport fills are left out and counted on their own.
- OpenSea's fee and the creator royalty are each read from the consideration items of the same fill, so what the seller kept is the price minus both.
- A purchase of a listing is told apart from a sale into an offer by which side offered the NFT: in an accepted offer the offerer gives WETH and receives the NFT.
- Wash trades are flagged when buyer and seller are the same, when one funded the other shortly before or when an NFT circles among a few wallets; flagged sales stay visible but leave the headline.

## Data it needs

- `nft_sales_daily` (to build): NFT sales per collection, marketplace and chain per day: sales, buyers, sellers and volume in the payment token.
- `address_labels` (to build): Labels for known addresses: exchanges, bridges, protocols, funds, treasuries, sanctioned addresses and known attackers.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.
- Source: Seaport OrderFulfilled events on Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet and Avalanche, with offer and consideration items
- Source: Consideration items paid to OpenSea's fee recipient addresses, which mark a fill as OpenSea's and give its fee
- Source: Seaport orders routed through OpenSea's approval contract, for fills that paid no OpenSea fee
- Source: ERC-721 and ERC-1155 Transfer logs in the same transactions, for the item moved and its buyer
- Source: Chainlink ETH/USD and AVAX/USD feeds at each sale block, for USD values

## Questions

### How is OpenSea volume measured here?

It is the sum of sale prices in Seaport fills attributed to OpenSea on each covered chain, valued in USD at the block of each sale. Wash trades are left out of the headline and shown beside it, so both versions of the figure can be checked.

### What fees does OpenSea charge?

OpenSea takes a marketplace fee on each sale, and collections can set a creator royalty. Both are paid inside the fill as separate items, so the dashboard reads the fee actually paid on each sale instead of a published rate, which OpenSea has changed several times.

### Which chain has the most OpenSea sales?

Value and count often disagree: a chain with cheap mints can lead on number of sales while another leads on value. The chain view shows both for the selected period, beside the number of distinct buyers on each chain.

### What is the difference between a listing sale and an accepted offer?

A listing sale is a buyer paying a seller's asking price. An accepted offer is a seller filling a bid, often a collection or trait offer paid in WETH. A rising share of accepted offers means more selling goes into bids than to buyers choosing a specific item.

### Are OpenSea token trades included?

No. Since its 2025 relaunch OpenSea also offers fungible token trading, which settles through other contracts. This dashboard counts NFT sales settled through Seaport, so its history stays comparable from year to year.

## Glossary

- **Seaport**: OpenSea's open-source marketplace protocol. Each fill emits OrderFulfilled with the offer and consideration items: everything each side gave and received.
- **Consideration item**: Something an order's maker must receive for the trade to settle, such as the seller's proceeds, the marketplace fee or the creator royalty.
- **Collection offer**: A bid for any item in a collection, usually in WETH, that any holder can accept. A trait offer does the same for items with a given trait.
