**Question:** How many wallets hold PEPE, and how concentrated is its supply?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Memecoins and launches](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/memecoins)
- Chains: Ethereum
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

PEPE is an ERC-20 memecoin on Ethereum, launched in 2023 with its whole supply minted when the contract was deployed and no tax on transfers. Since nothing new can be minted, what changes is who holds it and how much has been burned. This dashboard rebuilds every PEPE balance from the token's Transfer events and checks them against balanceOf at the same block, so holder counts and concentration come from the contract itself.

Concentration is the question most readers bring. The page shows the share held by the largest wallets with labels beside them, because a top address is often an exchange holding coins for many customers, a DEX pool or a team wallet rather than one whale. It also follows the team-labelled wallets, including the multisig that moved a large amount of PEPE to exchanges in August 2023 after its signing threshold was lowered.

## Blueprint

### Holders

How many addresses hold PEPE and how the count is changing.

- **Holders** (count): Addresses with a non-zero PEPE balance at the latest day's last block.
- **Holder change, 30 days** (count): Holders now minus holders thirty days earlier, both counted at day-end blocks.
- **Wallets moving PEPE, latest day** (count): Distinct addresses that sent or received PEPE during the latest complete day.
- **Held by exchanges** (%): PEPE in labelled exchange wallets as a share of totalSupply() at the same block.
- **Holders by day** (count): Addresses with a non-zero balance at each day's last block over the selected period.

### Concentration

Who holds the most PEPE, with labels, and how much has been burned.

- **Top 10 share** (%): The ten largest balances as a share of totalSupply(), with exchange and pool addresses included.
- **Top 10 share outside exchanges and pools** (%): The same share after leaving out labelled exchange wallets, DEX pools and burn addresses.
- **PEPE burned** (PEPE): Supply removed by burn calls plus PEPE held by dead addresses at the latest day's last block.
- **Held by team-labelled wallets** (PEPE): Balance of addresses labelled as team or project wallets, with the source of each label.
- **Largest holders**: The largest PEPE addresses with balance, share of supply, 30-day change and label.

Filters: Period (Last 30, 90 or 365 days).

## How it will be measured

- Holder balances are rebuilt from every PEPE Transfer event since deployment and checked against balanceOf at the snapshot block; a holder is an address with a non-zero balance.
- Concentration shares divide the balances of the largest addresses by totalSupply() at the same block, shown with and without exchange, pool and burn addresses.
- Burns count both calls to the contract's burn function, which lower totalSupply(), and transfers to dead addresses, which do not; the two kinds are shown apart.
- Labels for exchanges, Uniswap pools, bridges and team wallets come from the address registry with the source of each; unlabelled large holders are shown as unknown.

## Data it needs

- `token_holders_snapshot` (to build): Holder counts, top holders and concentration shares of registry tokens at a pinned block, with contract and exchange labels.
- `token_supply_daily` (to build): Total supply of each registry token on each chain at day end: wrapped BTC, liquid staking tokens, tokenized assets and other tracked tokens.
- `token_transfers_daily` (to build): ERC-20 and native transfer counts, volume and unique senders and receivers per token per chain per day.
- `address_labels` (to build): Labels for known addresses: exchanges, bridges, protocols, funds, treasuries, sanctioned addresses and known attackers.
- `exchange_balances_daily` (to build): Balances held in labelled exchange wallets per asset, chain and exchange at day end, and net flows in and out.
- `whale_transfers` (to build): Transfers above a size threshold per token and chain, with sender and receiver labels (exchange, fund, bridge, unknown).
- Source: PEPE ERC-20 contract on Ethereum: every Transfer event since deployment
- Source: balanceOf() of the largest addresses and totalSupply() at each day's last block
- Source: owner() of the PEPE contract, read daily
- Source: Burn calls (Transfer events to the zero address) and transfers to dead addresses
- Source: Address labels for exchanges, Uniswap pools, bridges and team multisigs, with the source of each

## Questions

### How many PEPE holders are there?

The holder count is the number of Ethereum addresses with a non-zero PEPE balance at the latest day's last block. One person can use many addresses and one exchange address can hold coins for many people, so it counts addresses, not people.

### Who are the largest PEPE holders?

Mostly exchange wallets, DEX pools and a few large unlabelled addresses. The largest holders table gives each address's label and its source, and shows how the balance changed over the last 30 days.

### Can new PEPE be minted?

The contract minted its whole supply to the deployer at creation and exposes no function to mint more. The page reads totalSupply() every day, so any change in supply is visible and traced to the burns behind it.

### Does the PEPE contract have a blacklist?

Yes. The contract includes a blacklist and holding-limit rules that only its owner can set. The dashboard reads the contract's owner() field each day, so readers can see whether anyone can still use those powers.

### What happened to the team's PEPE in 2023?

In August 2023 the signing threshold of a team multisig was lowered and a large part of its PEPE was sent to exchanges; the project said former team members were responsible. The wallets involved are labelled and tracked like any other.

## Glossary

- **Multisig**: A wallet that needs several of its owners to sign before it can move funds, such as two signers out of eight.
- **Holder concentration**: The share of supply held by the largest addresses, measured at a pinned block.
