**Question:** How much PYUSD circulates on each chain, and how has its supply moved?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Stablecoins](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/stablecoins)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Stellar, Avalanche, Tron, Aptos, Sei, Ink
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

PYUSD is PayPal's dollar stablecoin, issued by Paxos and redeemable one to one for US dollars. Paxos mints it natively on Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum and Stellar. A LayerZero version, PYUSD0, carries it to other chains such as Avalanche, Tron, Aptos, Sei and Ink. This dashboard reads its supply on every one of them from the token contracts, with native supply and PYUSD0 kept apart.

PYUSD0 is not new supply. Each PYUSD0 on another chain is backed by native PYUSD locked on the chain it came from, so adding the two would count the same dollar twice. The total here counts native supply only; PYUSD0 is shown by chain as bridged supply, with the locked PYUSD behind it named.

Supply changes when Paxos mints or burns, so each change is read from the supply controller's events with its block. Inside the PayPal and Venmo apps, balances are held for users by PayPal and move on-chain only when someone withdraws to a wallet, so on-chain holders show how much PYUSD is used outside those apps.

## Blueprint

### Supply

PYUSD supply by chain, native and bridged.

- **Native PYUSD supply** (PYUSD): PYUSD minted by Paxos on Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum and Stellar, at the latest day-end reads.
- **PYUSD0 on other chains** (PYUSD): PYUSD0 supply on every other chain, shown as bridged supply and not added to the native total.
- **Share by chain**: Each chain's share of native PYUSD supply at the latest reads.
- **Supply by chain over time** (PYUSD): Native PYUSD supply by chain by day, with PYUSD0 shown as a separate band.
- **Every chain**: Each chain with native or bridged supply, its share, its 30-day change and its holders.

### Mints and holders

Paxos mints and burns, and who holds PYUSD.

- **Minted, 30 days** (PYUSD): PYUSD minted by Paxos across native chains over the last 30 days.
- **Burned, 30 days** (PYUSD): PYUSD burned on redemption across native chains over the same period.
- **Holders** (count): Addresses holding PYUSD or PYUSD0 at the latest pinned block, across chains.
- **Held in labelled custody** (%): The share of native supply held in addresses labelled as Paxos treasury or PayPal custody.
- **Mints and burns by day** (PYUSD): PYUSD minted and burned by day and chain, with each supply controller transaction.

Filters: Period (Last 30, 90 or 365 days).

## How it will be measured

- Native supply is PYUSD totalSupply() at the last block of the day on Ethereum and Arbitrum, the Token-2022 mint's supply on Solana and the issued amount of the PYUSD asset on Stellar.
- Mints and burns are the supply controller's SupplyIncreased and SupplyDecreased events on EVM chains and mint and burn instructions on Solana, each with its block or slot.
- PYUSD0 supply is each chain's token totalSupply(), matched to the PYUSD locked to back it, and is shown as bridged supply rather than added to the native total.
- Holders are addresses with a non-zero balance at the same block, with Paxos treasury and PayPal custody addresses labelled where public sources identify them.

## Data it needs

- `stablecoin_supply_daily` (published): Native supply of each USD and EUR stablecoin on each covered chain at the chain's last block of each day, from totalSupply() reads, with bridged copies kept apart.
- `stablecoin_flows_daily` (to build): Stablecoin mints, burns, transfer volume and active addresses per stablecoin and chain per day.
- `bridge_flows_daily` (to build): Deposits into and withdrawals out of canonical and major third-party bridges by chain, token and day, plus escrow balances at day end.
- `token_holders_snapshot` (to build): Holder counts, top holders and concentration shares of registry tokens at a pinned block, with contract and exchange labels.
- `stablecoins` (published): Every tracked stablecoin contract: issuer, peg, chain, decimals and whether it is native or bridged.

## Questions

### What is PYUSD?

PayPal USD, or PYUSD, is a dollar stablecoin issued by Paxos for PayPal. It is meant to be backed by dollar deposits, US Treasuries and similar cash equivalents. It can be bought, held and sent in the PayPal and Venmo apps as well as from self-custody wallets.

### Which chains is PYUSD on?

Paxos issues PYUSD natively on Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum and Stellar. PYUSD0, a version carried by LayerZero, extends it to chains including Avalanche, Tron, Aptos, Sei and Ink. The dashboard lists every chain it reads and marks any it does not yet cover.

### What is PYUSD0?

PYUSD0 is PYUSD on chains where Paxos does not issue it directly. It is minted when native PYUSD is locked on its home chain and burned when it returns, so it is interchangeable with PYUSD but is not extra supply.

### Who issues PYUSD?

Paxos Trust Company, a regulated New York trust company, issues PYUSD and holds its reserves; PayPal distributes it. Paxos publishes monthly reserve reports, which are noted here beside the on-chain supply they describe.

### Why does PYUSD supply change?

Supply grows when Paxos mints PYUSD for customers who deposit dollars, PayPal among them. It shrinks when tokens are redeemed and burned. The dashboard lists those mints and burns by day and chain, with each transaction.

## Glossary

- **PYUSD0**: PYUSD carried to other chains through LayerZero, backed by native PYUSD locked on the chain it came from.
- **Native supply**: Tokens the issuer mints directly on a chain, as opposed to copies carried there by a bridge.
- **Supply controller**: The role in a Paxos token contract that mints and burns tokens.
