**Question:** Which spot crypto ETFs exist, which assets do they hold, what do they charge and who holds their coins?

- Kind: Table in Voltfin Strata
- Topic: [Markets and trading](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/trading)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP Ledger, Litecoin, Dogecoin
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Spot crypto ETFs hold the asset itself and trade like a stock. There are now funds for bitcoin, ether and a growing list of other assets, in the US and in other markets, from many issuers with different fees, custodians and staking policies. This table lists each fund once, with the facts people look up before comparing them.

Each row shows the fund's ticker, issuer, underlying asset, listing exchange and launch date, its sponsor fee, whether it stakes, who holds its coins and how many it holds. Fund facts come from prospectuses and filings and holdings from issuers' daily files; on-chain balances are added where a fund discloses its custody addresses.

## Blueprint

One row: One row per spot crypto ETF, on the latest day with a holdings file

- **Fund** (`fund`): The fund's name, linked to its prospectus.
- **Ticker** (`ticker`): The fund's trading symbol on its listing exchange.
- **Issuer** (`issuer`): The firm that sponsors and manages the fund.
- **Asset** (`asset`): The crypto asset the fund holds, or Index for a fund holding several.
- **Exchange** (`exchange`): The stock exchange that lists the fund's shares, which also gives its market.
- **Launch date** (`launch_date`): The first day the fund's shares traded.
- **Sponsor fee** (`sponsor_fee`): The yearly fee from the latest filing; a waiver in force and its end are named in the source.
- **Staking** (`staking`): Whether the fund stakes its holdings, from its filings, with the share staked where reported.
- **Custodian** (`custodian`): The firm that holds the fund's coins.
- **Holdings** (`holdings`, coins): Units of the asset held in the issuer's latest file, with the on-chain balance beside it where custody is public.
- **Value** (`holdings_usd`, USD): Holdings valued at the asset's reference price on the same day, so funds of different assets can be sorted together.
- **Source** (`source`): The filing and holdings file behind the row, with their dates.

## How it will be measured

- A fund is listed when it holds the crypto asset directly and its shares trade on a regulated exchange; futures funds and leveraged products are left out.
- Ticker, exchange, launch date, sponsor fee, custodian and staking policy come from each fund's prospectus and filings, each recorded with its source and date.
- Holdings are the units of the asset in the issuer's latest daily file; where custody addresses are public, the on-chain balance at the same date is shown beside them.
- Index funds that hold several assets are listed once, with their holdings broken down by asset in the row's source.

## Data it needs

- `etf_holdings_daily` (to build): Holdings and daily flows of spot crypto ETFs per fund, from issuer-published holdings, matched to custody addresses where they are disclosed.
- `market_caps_daily` (to build): Market capitalization of major assets as circulating supply times a reference price, and each asset's share of the total, per day.
- `address_labels` (to build): Labels for known addresses: exchanges, bridges, protocols, funds, treasuries, sanctioned addresses and known attackers.
- Source: Fund prospectuses and filings: ticker, exchange, launch date, fees, custodian and staking policy
- Source: Issuer daily holdings files, recorded with their source
- Source: Balances of disclosed custody addresses on each asset's chain

## Questions

### How many spot crypto ETFs are there?

The list changes as funds launch, merge and close, so the table is the count: each row is one fund with its launch date, and the filters show how many hold each asset or list on each exchange. It covers US funds and those listed in markets such as Canada and Hong Kong.

### Which crypto ETF has the lowest fee?

Sort the table by sponsor fee. Many funds launched with a fee waiver for a set period or up to a level of assets, so the row's source names any waiver in force and when it ends, from the latest filing.

### What is the difference between a spot and a futures crypto ETF?

A spot ETF holds the asset itself through a custodian, so its holdings can in principle be matched to coins. A futures ETF holds futures contracts, which roll over and can track the price less closely. This list includes spot funds only.

### Which crypto ETFs stake?

Some ether and SOL funds stake part of their holdings and pass the rewards to the fund. The staking column shows each fund's policy from its filings and, where it is reported, the share of holdings staked.

### Can I check an ETF's coins on-chain?

Only where the issuer publishes custody addresses. For those funds the table shows the on-chain balance beside the reported holdings at the same date; for the rest it shows the issuer's figure and says so.

## Glossary

- **Spot ETF**: An exchange-traded fund that holds the underlying asset itself rather than derivatives of it.
- **Fee waiver**: A temporary cut to a fund's sponsor fee, often for a set period or up to a level of assets.
- **Custodian**: The regulated firm that holds a fund's coins in its wallets on the fund's behalf.
