# Stablecoin Payments by Transfer Size and Chain

> Stablecoin payments by transfer size and chain: retail, business and treasury-sized USDT and USDC transfers, with exchange, DEX and bridge legs set apart.

**Question:** How many stablecoin transfers are payment-sized (retail and B2B ranges), and on which chains do they happen?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Payments](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/payments)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Tron, Base, Polygon, Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Stablecoin payments are hard to see in raw transfer data, because trading, bridging and exchange housekeeping produce far more transfers than payments do. This dashboard sets those legs apart and groups what remains by size, from small retail amounts to business-sized payments and large treasury moves, chain by chain.

Size is a useful proxy. A remittance or a card settlement looks different from a market maker rebalancing, and the bands make the difference visible without guessing who sent what. The bands are fixed in USD and the same on every chain, so a chain with many small transfers and a chain with a few large ones compare fairly.

Every count and volume names the transfers it was built from. The labels that set apart exchange, DEX and bridge legs are recorded with their source. An unlabelled address is never assumed to be an exchange.

## Blueprint

### Overview

Payment-sized transfers across chains and size bands.

- **Payment-sized transfers, latest day** (count): Transfers in the retail and business bands on the latest complete day, after setting apart exchange, DEX and bridge legs.
- **Payment-sized volume, latest day** (USD): The value of those payment-sized transfers on the same day.
- **Retail share of payment transfers** (%): Transfers in the smallest band as a share of all payment-sized transfers over the selected period.
- **Payment senders, latest day** (count): Distinct addresses that sent at least one payment-sized transfer on the latest complete day.
- **Transfers by size band by day** (count): Daily payment-like transfers in each size band across covered chains.

### By chain

Where each size band happens, chain by chain.

- **Most retail transfers** (%): The chain with the most transfers in the smallest band over the selected period, and its share of them.
- **Most business-sized transfers** (%): The chain with the most transfers in the business bands over the selected period, and its share of them.
- **Payment volume by chain**: Payment-sized volume over the selected period, split by chain.
- **Chains by size band** (count): Payment-like transfer counts for each chain and size band over the selected period, so each chain's mix shows at a glance.

Filters: Chain (Every covered chain); Stablecoin (USDT, USDC or both); Period (Last 30 days, quarter or year).

## How it will be measured

- Transfers are USDT and USDC Transfer logs between addresses on each covered EVM chain, with Tron TRC-20 and Solana SPL transfers read from their own raw layers.
- Legs touching labelled exchange wallets, DEX pools and routers or bridges are set apart, as are exchange deposit sweeps, where funds move from a deposit address to the exchange's main wallet.
- The remaining transfers are grouped into fixed USD size bands, from small retail amounts to large treasury moves. Each band is counted per chain and day by number, volume and distinct senders.
- Transfers between two unlabelled contracts are kept in a group of their own, because they are more often automation than payments.

## Data it needs

- `payments_volume_daily` (to build): Stablecoin payment flows that look like payments rather than trading: merchant and payroll transfers, card settlements and remittance corridors, per chain and day.
- `stablecoin_flows_daily` (to build): Stablecoin mints, burns, transfer volume and active addresses per stablecoin and chain per day.
- `token_transfers_daily` (to build): ERC-20 and native transfer counts, volume and unique senders and receivers per token per chain per day.
- `address_labels` (to build): Labels for known addresses: exchanges, bridges, protocols, funds, treasuries, sanctioned addresses and known attackers.
- `stablecoins` (published): Every tracked stablecoin contract: issuer, peg, chain, decimals and whether it is native or bridged.
- Source: ERC-20 Transfer logs of USDT and USDC between addresses on each covered EVM chain
- Source: Tron TRC-20 and Solana SPL transfers of USDT and USDC from their raw layers
- Source: Address labels for exchange wallets, DEX pools, routers and bridges
- Source: Exchange deposit-sweep patterns, to drop internal moves
- Source: Fixed USD size bands applied to each transfer

## Questions

### How big are stablecoin payments compared with all stablecoin transfers?

Most stablecoin transfer volume is trading, bridging and treasury movement rather than payments. The dashboard measures payment-like transfers directly, by chain and size, so the answer comes with its definition rather than as one headline total.

### What counts as a payment-sized transfer?

A transfer in the retail or business size bands that does not touch an exchange's own wallets, a DEX or a bridge. Size alone does not prove a payment, so the dashboard shows each band rather than a single total.

### Which chain carries the most stablecoin payments?

It depends on the size band. Some chains carry many small transfers and others fewer large ones. The heatmap of chains by size band shows where each kind of payment happens, from the latest complete day back.

### Why is Tron included?

Tron carries a large share of all USDT transfers, especially between exchanges and in cross-border flows, so leaving it out would miss much of the activity. Its TRC-20 transfers are read with the same rules as on EVM chains.

## Glossary

- **Size band**: A fixed range of transfer values in USD, the same on every chain.
- **Deposit sweep**: An exchange moving funds from a customer's deposit address to its main wallet: housekeeping rather than a payment.
- **B2B payment**: A payment between businesses, usually larger and less frequent than a retail payment.
