**Question:** How much stablecoin supply is on Base, and how many transfers and senders use it each day?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Stablecoins](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/stablecoins)
- Chains: Base
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Base is the layer 2 incubated by Coinbase, and Circle issues USDC on it natively, which makes it a common chain for dollar payments and the apps built on them. This dashboard reads the supply of every tracked stablecoin on Base from its contract and counts how many transfers, senders and receivers use them each day.

Native and bridged coins are kept apart: USDbC, the bridged USDC from Base's early days, is shown beside native USDC and never added to it. USDC also moves to and from Base through Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol, which burns on one chain and mints on the other; those flows have a chart of their own.

Read supply by coin first, then the transfer charts and size bands to see whether activity is many small payments or a few large movements. Every figure opens the Base block and the read behind it.

## Blueprint

### Supply

Stablecoin supply on Base by coin and over time.

- **Stablecoin supply on Base** (USD): Native supply of every tracked dollar stablecoin on Base on the latest day, with bridged copies shown apart.
- **Native USDC** (USDC): Circle's native USDC supply on Base on the latest day.
- **USDC share** (%): Native USDC as a share of dollar stablecoin supply on Base on the latest day.
- **Change, 30 days** (%): Dollar stablecoin supply on Base against its level thirty days earlier.
- **Supply by coin** (USD): Daily supply of each stablecoin on Base over the selected period, with USDbC and other bridged copies labelled.
- **USDC in and out through CCTP** (USDC): USDC minted on Base and burned on Base by Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol each day, burns below the line.

### Transfers

How many transfers and senders use stablecoins on Base each day.

- **Transfers, latest day** (count): Stablecoin Transfer events on Base on the latest complete day, with mints and burns left out.
- **Senders, latest day** (count): Distinct addresses that sent a stablecoin on Base that day.
- **Transfers and volume by day**: Daily transfer count and transfer value on Base over the selected period, on two axes.
- **Transfers by size band** (count): Daily stablecoin transfers on Base in small, medium and large size bands, with each band's edges stated on the chart.

Filters: Period (Last 30 days, 90 days or one year); Coin (Every stablecoin on Base).

## How it will be measured

- Supply is each registered stablecoin contract's totalSupply() on Base at the last block of each UTC day, scaled by decimals, with native and bridged contracts kept apart.
- Transfers are the Transfer events of those contracts per UTC day: their count, value and distinct senders and receivers, with mints and burns left out.
- Transfers are grouped into size bands whose edges are stated on the chart.
- Cross-chain USDC flows are the mints and burns of Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol on Base, matched with their other leg where it is on a covered chain.
- Each figure is pinned to a Base block, with its number and hash and the read behind it.

## Data it needs

- `stablecoin_supply_daily` (published): Native supply of each USD and EUR stablecoin on each covered chain at the chain's last block of each day, from totalSupply() reads, with bridged copies kept apart.
- `stablecoin_flows_daily` (to build): Stablecoin mints, burns, transfer volume and active addresses per stablecoin and chain per day.
- `token_transfers_daily` (to build): ERC-20 and native transfer counts, volume and unique senders and receivers per token per chain per day.
- `bridge_flows_daily` (to build): Deposits into and withdrawals out of canonical and major third-party bridges by chain, token and day, plus escrow balances at day end.
- Source: totalSupply() of USDC, USDbC, EURC, USDS, USDe and other registered stablecoins on Base at day-end blocks
- Source: Transfer events of the same contracts, for counts, value, senders, receivers and size bands
- Source: DepositForBurn and MintAndWithdraw events of Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol on Base

## Questions

### How much USDC is on Base?

The native USDC tile shows Circle's USDC supply on Base on the latest complete day, read from its contract, with bridged USDbC shown apart. The receipt names the block it was read at.

### What is the difference between USDC and USDbC on Base?

USDC on Base is issued natively by Circle and redeemable with it. USDbC is an older bridged copy, minted on Base against USDC locked in the Base bridge on Ethereum; it is shown separately and never added to native USDC.

### Why is Base used for stablecoin payments?

Fees on Base are low because it posts its transactions to Ethereum in batches. USDC is also native there, and many wallets, exchanges and payment apps support it, so small and frequent transfers are practical.

### What is CCTP?

Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol, which moves USDC between chains by burning it on the source chain and minting the same amount on the destination, so no bridged copy is created.

## Glossary

- **USDbC**: Bridged USDC on Base, minted against USDC locked in the Base bridge on Ethereum, from before Circle issued USDC natively on Base.
- **CCTP**: Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol, which burns USDC on one chain and mints it on another.
