# Token Buyback Report: Monthly Spend by Protocol

> A monthly token buyback report: the month's buyback spend by protocol, tokens bought and burned, share of supply removed, each amount cited to its transactions.

**Question:** Which protocols bought back the most of their own tokens last month?

- Kind: Report in Voltfin Folio
- Topic: [DAOs and treasuries](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/governance)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Hyperliquid, Solana, Ethereum, Base
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

This report ranks the month's token buybacks: which protocols spent the most buying their own tokens, how many tokens they bought and burned and what share of supply that removed. It is dated and closed at the month's last block, so its figures never mix a month with a year or with a running total.

Each amount is cited to the fills and transfers that made it, by the buyback addresses each protocol publishes. Programs that changed during the month, such as a new buyback, a paused one or a new split of revenue, are noted with the governance decision or announcement behind them.

## Blueprint

### The month in one paragraph

Total spent on buybacks across tracked protocols, the largest programs and what changed since the last edition.

Cites: Total buyback spend this month; Protocols with buybacks; Change against last month.

### Buyback league table

Every tracked protocol ranked by the month's spend, with tokens bought, tokens burned and the share of supply removed.

Cites: Spend per protocol; Tokens bought per protocol; Share of supply removed.

### How buybacks were paid for

Which revenue funded each program (trading fees, other protocol fees or treasury funds) and the share of that revenue spent on buybacks.

Cites: Buyback spend as a share of revenue.

### Burned, held or distributed

What happened to the tokens after purchase: burned, held by a treasury or passed to stakers.

Cites: Tokens burned; Tokens held by treasuries.

### Programs that started, stopped or changed

New, paused or changed buyback programs, each with the governance vote or announcement and its first or last transaction.

### How this edition was measured

Block ranges on each chain, the registry changes made this month and any corrections to earlier editions.

## How it will be measured

- The month runs from its first to its last block on each chain in UTC; purchases are fills by registry buyback addresses within that range.
- Purchases are valued from the stablecoin or ETH leg of each fill at its block; burns are transfers to the zero address or a known burn address.
- Share of supply removed is the tokens bought in the month divided by totalSupply() at the month's first block.
- A buyback a protocol reports but that is not found on-chain is listed apart as reported, never added to the table.

## Data it needs

- `protocol_revenue_daily` (to build): Fees users paid to each protocol and the part kept by the protocol or its token holders, per protocol and day, including buybacks.
- `dex_swaps_daily` (to build): Swap counts and volume per DEX, pool and chain per day, decoded from Swap events, valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices.
- `token_supply_daily` (to build): Total supply of each registry token on each chain at day end: wrapped BTC, liquid staking tokens, tokenized assets and other tracked tokens.
- `address_labels` (to build): Labels for known addresses: exchanges, bridges, protocols, funds, treasuries, sanctioned addresses and known attackers.
- Source: A registry of protocol buyback, treasury and burn addresses, with sources
- Source: DEX fills by buyback addresses for the month: Uniswap Swap events, Solana AMM swaps and HyperCore fills
- Source: Transfer logs into burn addresses for the month
- Source: totalSupply() at the month's first and last blocks
- Source: USD value from the paired stablecoin leg of each fill

## Questions

### What counts as a buyback in this report?

A purchase of a protocol's own token by an address the protocol publishes as its buyback, treasury or fee address, found as a fill on a DEX or an order book. Transfers from market makers count only when the protocol discloses them as buybacks.

### Why publish buybacks monthly?

Buyback programs run continuously, and monthly totals compare protocols fairly without mixing different periods. Each edition closes at the month's last block, so its figures do not change after publication.

### How is the share of supply calculated?

Tokens bought during the month divided by the token's totalSupply() at the month's first block. It shows how much of the outstanding token the program took off the market in that month.
