# Token Unlocks This Week and Unlock Calendar

> Token unlocks this week and ahead: each unlock's date, size against circulating supply, cliff or linear type and recipients, checked against vesting contracts.

**Question:** Which tokens unlock this week, and how large is each unlock compared with circulating supply?

- Kind: Table in Voltfin Strata
- Topic: [Markets and trading](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/trading)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Solana
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Many tokens launch with most of their supply locked for teams, investors and ecosystem funds, then release it over months or years on a published schedule. An unlock adds tokens that can trade, so the size of an unlock against the supply already circulating is the figure most people check.

This calendar lists upcoming unlocks by date: the token, the amount, the share of circulating supply, the group receiving it and whether it arrives as a cliff or streams in linearly. Schedules come from each project's published tokenomics, and where the tokens sit in a vesting contract, the release is also read from that contract.

Past unlocks are checked after the fact: did the contract release what the schedule said, and when? A row marked as verified links to the release transaction; an unverified row rests on the published schedule alone.

## Blueprint

One row: One row per token per scheduled unlock event

- **Date** (`unlock_date`): The scheduled day of the unlock, or the start of the period for a linear release.
- **Token** (`token`): The token unlocking, linked to its contract.
- **Chain** (`chain`): The chain where the locked tokens are held.
- **Amount** (`amount`, tokens): Tokens scheduled to release on the date, or over the period for a linear release.
- **Value** (`usd_value`, USD): The amount at the latest oracle or DEX price, labelled by its price source.
- **Share of circulating** (`share_of_circulating`): The amount as a share of circulating supply at the latest block.
- **Type** (`unlock_type`): Cliff or linear, as the schedule defines it.
- **Recipients** (`recipients`): The group receiving the tokens: team, investors, advisors, ecosystem or treasury.
- **Schedule source** (`schedule_source`): The published tokenomics the scheduled amount comes from.
- **On-chain check** (`onchain_status`): Held in a known vesting contract or schedule only; for past unlocks, verified or mismatched.
- **Receipt** (`receipt`): The vesting contract read or release transaction behind the row.

## How it will be measured

- Schedules come from each project's published tokenomics (cliff dates, linear rates and recipient groups), recorded with their source and the date they were read.
- Where tokens are held in vesting contracts, such as Sablier streams or a project's own vesting contract, the releasable amount and its timing are read from the contract at the latest block.
- Circulating supply is total supply minus the balances of vesting, treasury and locked contracts at the latest block, so an unlock's share is measured against tokens that can trade now.
- A past unlock is verified when release or claim events, or a fall in the vesting balance, match the scheduled amount on the scheduled day.

## Data it needs

- `token_unlocks` (to build): Vesting and unlock schedules of major tokens, from vesting contracts where they exist and from published schedules otherwise, with each unlock's date and recipient group.
- `token_supply_daily` (to build): Total supply of each registry token on each chain at day end: wrapped BTC, liquid staking tokens, tokenized assets and other tracked tokens.
- `market_caps_daily` (to build): Market capitalization of major assets as circulating supply times a reference price, and each asset's share of the total, per day.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.

- Source: Sablier v2 Lockup CreateLockupLinearStream, CreateLockupDynamicStream and WithdrawFromLockupStream events

## Questions

### What is a token unlock?

A token unlock is the scheduled release of tokens that were locked at launch for teams, investors, advisors or ecosystem funds. Once released, the tokens can be sold, staked or moved by their recipients.

### What is the difference between a cliff and a linear unlock?

A cliff releases a large block of tokens at once on a set date, often a year after launch. A linear unlock releases tokens continuously or in small daily or monthly steps, so supply grows gradually instead of all at once.

### Do token unlocks affect price?

An unlock increases the supply that can trade, which matters most when it is large relative to circulating supply and when recipients sell. Many recipients hold or stake instead, so the calendar shows size and recipients, not an expected price effect.

### Why measure unlocks against circulating supply?

The same token amount means more when few tokens circulate. Dividing an unlock by circulating supply shows how much it adds to what can trade today, which makes unlocks of different tokens comparable.

### How are unlock schedules verified?

When an unlock's date passes, the vesting contract's release or claim events and balances are read. If the released amount matches the schedule, the row links to the transaction; if not, the difference is shown.

## Glossary

- **Vesting schedule**: The plan that sets when locked tokens are released to each recipient group, by date and amount.
- **Cliff**: A date before which no tokens release, and on which a large block often releases at once.
- **Circulating supply**: Tokens that can trade now: total supply minus tokens still held in vesting, treasury and locked contracts.
