> Total ETH staked on the beacon chain, the staking ratio as a share of ETH supply, active validators, deposits and exits, each figure pinned to an epoch.

**Question:** How much ETH is staked right now, and what percentage of total supply is that?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Staking and restaking](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/staking)
- Chains: Ethereum
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Total ETH staked is the ether locked in validators on Ethereum's beacon chain, where it secures the network and earns rewards. This dashboard reads it from the beacon state itself: every validator's balance and status at the end of each day, added up, then divided by the ETH supply at the same epoch to give the staking ratio.

Since the Pectra upgrade, one validator can hold far more than 32 ETH, so the number of validators no longer tells you how much is staked. The dashboard shows both, together with the deposits, partial withdrawals and full exits that change the total, so every rise or fall can be traced to what caused it.

Use it to follow the trend, to compare the staked share with the ETH that stays liquid or to see how much is staked through liquid staking protocols, exchanges and staking services. Each figure names the epoch and slot it was read at, with the reads behind it.

## Blueprint

### Now

Staked ETH, the staking ratio and validators at the latest finalized epoch.

- **ETH staked** (ETH): The sum of effective balances of active validators at the latest finalized epoch, read from the beacon state.
- **Staking ratio** (%): Staked ETH divided by total ETH supply at the same epoch.
- **Active validators** (count): Validators with an active status at the same epoch; compounding (0x02) validators are shown as a share of them.
- **Net flow into staking, 30 days** (ETH): Deposits minus partial and full withdrawals over the last 30 days: the net flow into staking.
- **Staked ETH by provider type** (ETH): Staked ETH by provider type (liquid staking protocol, exchange, staking service or unlabelled), from validators' withdrawal credentials.
- **Waiting to enter and exit** (ETH): ETH waiting in the pending deposits queue and ETH in validators that have started to exit, at the latest finalized epoch.

### History

How staked ETH, the ratio and the flows behind them moved over time.

- **Change in ETH staked** (ETH): Change in staked ETH between the first and last day of the selected period.
- **Change in staking ratio** (percentage points): Change in the staking ratio between the first and last day of the same period.
- **Deposits and withdrawals by day** (ETH): Deposits against partial withdrawals and full exits per day, so each move in the total shows what drove it.
- **ETH staked and staking ratio by day** (ETH): Staked ETH at the last epoch of each day, with the staking ratio on a second axis.

Filters: Period (Last 30 days, last year or since the beacon chain launched).

## How it will be measured

- Staked ETH is the sum of effective balances of active validators in the beacon state at the last epoch of each day; validators still waiting to activate and those that have exited are counted apart.
- The staking ratio divides staked ETH by total ETH supply at the same epoch, taken from the issuance and burn model, so both sides of the ratio refer to one moment.
- Inflows are DepositEvent logs of the beacon deposit contract and outflows are the withdrawals in each execution block (EIP-4895), split into partial skims of rewards and full exits.
- Validators with 0x02 compounding credentials (EIP-7251) are counted separately, since one of them can hold the stake of many 32 ETH validators.
- Every figure carries a receipt: the epoch and slot it was read at, their block hash and the beacon and execution reads that agreed.

## Data it needs

- `eth_staking_daily` (to build): Active validators, ETH staked, deposits, withdrawals and the entry and exit queues on the Ethereum beacon chain, by day, with staking-provider labels where known.
- `eth_supply_daily` (to build): Daily ETH issued to validators, ETH burned through the EIP-1559 base fee, and the resulting net change in ETH supply.
- Source: Beacon state validator list at each day's last epoch: effective_balance, status and withdrawal_credentials
- Source: DepositEvent logs of the beacon deposit contract on Ethereum
- Source: The withdrawals list in each execution block (EIP-4895), split into partial and full withdrawals
- Source: The beacon state's pending_deposits queue at the same epoch, since Pectra
- Source: Total ETH supply at the same epoch from the issuance and burn model

## Questions

### How much ETH is staked right now?

The headline tile shows the effective balance of every active validator at the latest finalized epoch, with the epoch it was read at. It updates each day from the beacon state, so the figure is the chain's own count rather than an estimate.

### What is the ETH staking ratio?

The staking ratio is the share of all ETH that sits in active validators: staked ETH divided by total ETH supply at the same epoch. A higher ratio means less ETH is liquid and more secures the chain, and it also lowers the yield each staker earns from issuance.

### Why can the number of validators fall while staked ETH does not?

Since the Pectra upgrade (EIP-7251), validators with compounding credentials can hold far more than 32 ETH, so consolidating many validators into one lowers the count without removing any stake. That is why this dashboard leads with ETH staked rather than validators.

### Why do sources give different totals for staked ETH?

Some add up deposits minus withdrawals; some count validator balances, including rewards not yet withdrawn; some include deposits still waiting in the entry queue. This dashboard counts the effective balance of active validators and shows pending deposits and exiting validators as figures of their own.

### Does staked ETH include liquid staking tokens like stETH?

The ETH behind liquid staking tokens sits in validators, so it is counted here once. The tokens themselves are claims on that ETH: adding their supply to validator balances would count the same ether twice.

## Glossary

- **Beacon chain**: Ethereum's consensus layer, where validators are registered, attest to blocks and receive rewards. Its state lists every validator with its balance and status.
- **Effective balance**: The balance the protocol uses to weigh a validator's votes and rewards. It is capped and rounded down to a whole ETH, and it changes only when the actual balance moves far enough from it.
- **Staking ratio**: Staked ETH as a share of total ETH supply, both measured at the same epoch.
- **Compounding validator**: A validator with 0x02 withdrawal credentials (EIP-7251). Its rewards stay staked instead of being skimmed out, and it can hold far more than 32 ETH.
