**Question:** How busy is Unichain, how much trading runs on it and how much of its sequencer revenue reaches the UNI burn?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [Layer 2s](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/layer-2)
- Chains: Unichain, Ethereum
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Unichain is the OP Stack layer 2 that Uniswap Labs launched in February 2025, a Superchain member with one-second blocks and 200-millisecond preconfirmations streamed between them as flashblocks. This dashboard follows its daily transactions, active addresses and gas, read from Unichain's blocks.

Much of Unichain's activity is trading, so the dashboard also measures swap volume on Uniswap's pools there by version, along with the share of the chain's gas that swaps use. Under the UNIfication proposal passed in December 2025, Unichain's sequencer revenue is routed to the TokenJar, the contract that releases Uniswap's protocol fees to whoever burns UNI.

Every figure names the Unichain or Ethereum block it was read at, so sequencer revenue sent toward the burn can be traced from the fee vaults to the TokenJar, transfer by transfer.

## Blueprint

### Activity and gas

Transactions, active addresses and gas on Unichain.

- **Transactions, latest day** (count): Transactions in Unichain blocks on the latest complete UTC day, leaving out the L1 attributes deposit that opens each block.
- **Active addresses, latest day** (count): Distinct addresses that sent at least one transaction on Unichain on the latest complete UTC day.
- **Base fee now** (gwei): The base fee per gas of the latest Unichain block, from its header.
- **Median transaction fee** (USD): The median fee paid per transaction on Unichain on the latest complete day, including the L1 data fee.
- **Transactions and active addresses by day** (count): Daily transactions and daily active addresses on Unichain over the selected period.

### Trading and fees

Uniswap swaps on Unichain and the sequencer revenue sent toward the UNI burn.

- **Swap volume, latest day** (USD): Uniswap swap volume on Unichain on the latest complete day, across v2, v3 and v4 pools.
- **Swaps' share of gas** (%): The share of gas used on Unichain on the latest complete day by transactions that swapped on Uniswap.
- **Swap volume by Uniswap version** (USD): Daily swap volume on Unichain split by Uniswap v2, v3 and v4.
- **Sequencer revenue sent to the TokenJar** (ETH): Unichain sequencer revenue that reached the TokenJar each month since UNIfication, from the transfers that carried it.

Filters: Period (Last week, month, quarter or year).

## How it will be measured

- Transactions and active addresses are counted per UTC day from Unichain blocks, leaving out the L1 attributes deposit that opens each block.
- Fees are gas used times effective gas price plus the L1 data fee and operator fee from receipts; as on other OP Stack chains, the base fee is paid into a fee vault rather than burned.
- Swap volume is decoded from Uniswap v2, v3 and v4 Swap events on Unichain and valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices; v4 volume is split by hook where a pool has one.
- Sequencer revenue sent to the burn is read from fee vault withdrawals and the transfers that reach the TokenJar, matched to the period the fees were collected in.

## Data it needs

- `chain_activity_daily` (to build): Transactions, active sending addresses, new addresses, contracts created and gas used on each chain per day, counted from blocks and transactions.
- `gas_blocks` (to build): Base fee, priority fee percentiles, gas used and gas limit for each block on fee-market chains, for a near-live gas tracker.
- `l2_activity_daily` (to build): Per layer 2 per day: transactions, active addresses, fees users paid on the L2, and what the L2 paid Ethereum to settle and post data.
- `dex_swaps_daily` (to build): Swap counts and volume per DEX, pool and chain per day, decoded from Swap events, valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices.
- `protocol_revenue_daily` (to build): Fees users paid to each protocol and the part kept by the protocol or its token holders, per protocol and day, including buybacks.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.
- Source: Unichain blocks and receipts: gas used, effective gas price, l1Fee and operator fee
- Source: Uniswap v2, v3 and v4 Swap events on Unichain, with v4 hooks from pool Initialize events
- Source: Fee vault balances and withdrawals on Unichain, with the transfers of sequencer revenue to the TokenJar
- Source: Unichain batcher blob transactions and dispute game transactions on Ethereum
- Source: Chainlink ETH/USD at day-end blocks

## Questions

### What is Unichain's block time?

Unichain produces a block every second, and its sequencer streams 200-millisecond preconfirmations, called flashblocks, within each block. Flashblocks are an extension outside the core protocol: the one-second blocks are what settle to Ethereum.

### Is Unichain part of the Superchain?

Yes. Unichain is built on the OP Stack, shares the Superchain's upgrades and pays the Superchain revenue share to the Optimism Collective. It runs permissionless fault proofs, so anyone can challenge an incorrect state claim.

### Where do Unichain's fees go?

Fees collect in the chain's fee vaults. Under UNIfication, Unichain's sequencer revenue is sent to the TokenJar, which releases it to whoever burns UNI in the Firepit contract. The Uniswap fee switch dashboard follows the burn itself.

### How much of Unichain's activity is trading?

The dashboard measures it each day: swaps as a share of transactions and of gas used, plus swap volume on Uniswap's pools by version. Bots trade heavily on fast chains, so the share is shown with the number of distinct addresses that swapped.

## Glossary

- **Flashblock**: A preconfirmation of part of the next block, streamed by Unichain's sequencer between full blocks.
- **TokenJar**: The contract that collects Uniswap protocol fees and Unichain sequencer revenue until someone burns UNI to release them.
- **Fee vault**: A predeploy contract on an OP Stack chain that collects one kind of fee until it is withdrawn.
