**Question:** How much trades on Uniswap each day, what do its liquidity providers earn and where does its liquidity sit?

- Kind: Dashboard in Voltfin Vantage
- Topic: [DeFi](https://voltfincrypto.com/topics/defi)
- Chains: Multi-chain, Ethereum, Unichain, Base, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche
- Status: Planned. The data is not published yet, so this page states no figure; each figure will open its receipt when it is.

Uniswap is an automated market maker that started on Ethereum and now runs on many chains, in three live versions that work differently. In v2 every pair is its own contract with liquidity spread across all prices. In v3 liquidity providers choose a price range for each position, in pools that each have a fixed fee tier. In v4 every pool lives inside one PoolManager contract and can attach a hook. This dashboard reads swaps and liquidity from all three, chain by chain.

Volume is the value of each pool swap, measured on one side and valued at its stablecoin leg or an oracle price at the swap's block. Fees are what liquidity providers earned at each pool's fee rate, with any protocol fee from the fee switch shown apart. Liquidity is the tokens each pool holds at the day's last block. Every figure links to the pools and blocks behind it, so a reader can check how much of Uniswap's trading is on v4, on Unichain or in one pool.

Routed trades are counted per pool: a swap that an aggregator splits across three Uniswap pools adds three entries, matching how each pool records it, and a count of trades by transaction sits beside the volume so the two can be told apart.

## Blueprint

### Overview

Uniswap's volume, LP fees and liquidity across every version and chain.

- **Volume, latest day** (USD): Swap volume across every covered Uniswap version and chain on the latest complete UTC day, valued once per swap.
- **LP fees, latest day** (USD): Fees earned by liquidity providers on the latest complete day, after any protocol fee share.
- **TVL** (USD): Tokens held in all Uniswap pools at the last block of the latest day, valued at oracle prices.
- **v4 share of volume** (%): Uniswap v4 volume as a share of all Uniswap volume over the selected period.
- **Volume by version** (USD): Daily Uniswap volume over the selected period, stacked by v2, v3 and v4.
- **Chains ranked**: Each covered chain with its Uniswap volume, LP fees, liquidity, trade count and the split of its volume by version.

### Pools

The pools and fee tiers where Uniswap's volume and fees concentrate.

- **Pools with volume** (count): Pools that recorded at least one swap over the selected period, across all versions.
- **Largest pool's share** (%): The single largest pool's share of Uniswap volume over the selected period.
- **Volume by fee tier** (USD): Uniswap v3 and v4 volume over the selected period, split by each pool's fee tier, with dynamic-fee pools as their own slice.
- **Top pools**: The pools with the most volume over the period: pair, version, chain, fee tier, volume, LP fees, liquidity and fee yield.

Filters: Chain (Every covered chain, or all); Version (v2, v3, v4 or all); Period (Last 7, 30 or 90 days).

## How it will be measured

- v2 and v3 volume comes from each pool's Swap events, and v4 volume from the PoolManager's Swap events keyed by pool id, with each pool's tokens, fee and hook taken from its Initialize event.
- Each swap is valued once, at its stablecoin leg when it has one and otherwise at an on-chain oracle price at the swap's block.
- LP fees are each swap's input times the fee in force: the fixed v2 rate, the pool's v3 fee tier or the fee recorded in the v4 Swap event, which a dynamic-fee hook can set trade by trade.
- Liquidity is each pool's tokens at the last block of the UTC day: reserves for v2, and for v3 and v4 the amounts implied by the pool's liquidity and ticks, valued at the same prices.
- Where the fee switch is on, the protocol's share is read from the pool's fee settings and taken out of LP fees, so LP fees and protocol fees never overlap.

## Data it needs

- `dex_swaps_daily` (to build): Swap counts and volume per DEX, pool and chain per day, decoded from Swap events, valued with stablecoin legs and oracle prices.
- `dex_liquidity_daily` (to build): Liquidity held by each DEX pool at day end, in tokens and valued in USD, with fee tier and pool age.
- `protocol_revenue_daily` (to build): Fees users paid to each protocol and the part kept by the protocol or its token holders, per protocol and day, including buybacks.
- `native_prices_daily` (to build): Reference prices of major assets read from on-chain oracle feeds (Chainlink latestRoundData) at each day's last block, with each round's update time.
- Source: Uniswap v2 PairCreated and v3 PoolCreated factory events, and each pool's Swap events, on every covered chain
- Source: Uniswap v4 PoolManager Initialize, Swap, ModifyLiquidity and Donate events on each chain
- Source: v2 getReserves and v3 and v4 liquidity and tick state at day-end blocks
- Source: Protocol fee settings of each v2 and v3 pool where the fee switch is on
- Source: Chainlink price feeds at the swap block for tokens without a stablecoin leg

## Questions

### How much volume does Uniswap do in a day?

The latest day's volume is the dashboard's first figure, added up from every Swap event on every covered chain and version and valued at oracle prices. It counts each pool a trade passes through, so the trade count beside it, by transaction, shows how many separate trades made up that volume.

### What is the difference between Uniswap v2, v3 and v4?

v2 pools spread liquidity over every price and charge one fixed fee. v3 lets providers concentrate liquidity in a price range and choose among fee tiers. v4 keeps concentrated liquidity but holds every pool in one PoolManager contract, which makes new pools and multi-hop swaps cheaper, and lets a pool attach a hook with custom logic.

### How much do Uniswap liquidity providers earn?

Each swap pays the pool's fee to the providers whose liquidity was in range at that moment. The dashboard shows fees per pool and per day and the fee yield on each pool's liquidity. It does not include impermanent loss, which depends on each position's range and entry price.

### What is Uniswap's TVL?

Here it is the tokens held in Uniswap pools at the last block of each day, valued at oracle prices and added across versions and chains. In v4 every token sits in the PoolManager contract, so each pool's share is worked out from its liquidity and ticks.

### Does the fee switch change what LPs earn?

In pools where governance has turned protocol fees on, a set share of each swap fee goes to the protocol instead of providers. The dashboard shows LP fees after that share and protocol fees apart; the UNI burns those fees pay for are on the fee switch dashboard.

### Which chain has the most Uniswap volume?

The ranking moves, so the dashboard shows it rather than stating it: the chain table ranks every covered chain by volume, fees and liquidity for the latest day and month, and the share chart shows how each chain's part of Uniswap volume changes over time.

## Glossary

- **Concentrated liquidity**: Liquidity placed within a chosen price range, so it earns fees only while the price is inside that range and earns more per unit of capital while it is.
- **Fee tier**: The swap fee a v3 pool charges, fixed when the pool is created, so the same pair can have pools at several tiers. v4 pools can also use a dynamic fee.
- **PoolManager**: The single v4 contract that holds every pool's tokens and settles swaps with flash accounting, paying out only the net amounts at the end of a transaction.
- **Hook**: A contract a v4 pool calls at set points, such as before and after swaps, to add logic like dynamic fees or limit orders.
