Decentralized exchanges, lending markets and perpetual exchanges run as contracts whose state and events are public. The apps here read swaps, liquidity, deposits, borrows, rates and liquidations from those contracts, valued with on-chain oracle prices wherever a dollar figure is needed.

Value locked is counted once: receipt tokens and deposits that are re-deposited elsewhere are never added twice, and every protocol's figure names the contracts it was read from.
