    • x402 payment volume
    • Distinct payers
    • Share of payments by chain
  3. Agent identity and reputation

New ERC-8004 registrations by chain, the agents that received feedback and how many distinct clients left it.

    • New ERC-8004 registrations
    • Feedback posted
    • Agents rated by more than one client
  4. Agent tokens

Agent tokens launched on Virtuals and other agent launchpads, how many graduated to a DEX pool and how their holders and DEX volume changed.

    • Agent tokens launched
    • Agent tokens graduated
    • DEX volume in agent tokens
  5. Agents paying agents

Agent Commerce Protocol jobs opened, completed and refunded, the payments released to providers and the agents that earned the most.

  6. What changed and how it was counted

New facilitators, registries and launchpads added to the counts this month, protocol changes that affect the figures and what to watch next month.

About

What it answers, and for whom.

AI agents now hold wallets, pay for services, register identities and launch tokens, and each of those leaves a trace on-chain. This report collects the month's agent activity in one dated document: payments settled through x402 and other agent payment protocols, agents registered under ERC-8004, agent tokens launched and the jobs agents paid each other for.

Claims about agents travel faster than the data, and totals from different sources rarely agree. Every figure in the report is cited to the blocks and transactions it was counted from, with the method beside it, so a reader can check a number rather than take it on trust.

It is written for builders, researchers, payments teams and journalists who follow the agent economy and want a monthly record of it that holds up to checking, figure by figure.

Method

How it will be measured.

Every figure will be read at a block, kept with its source and its exact read, and open a receipt anyone can re-check.

How receipts work →
  1. x402 payments are facilitator-submitted settlements (EIP-3009 transfers and the Permit2 path on EVM chains, SPL transfers on Solana), counted per month from a registry of facilitator addresses.
  2. Registrations are Registered events of ERC-8004 identity registries on every chain where a deployment is confirmed; feedback comes from the matching reputation registries.
  3. Launches are token-creation events of agent launchpad factories, starting with Virtuals; jobs are Agent Commerce Protocol escrows released to providers.
  4. Machine Payments Protocol settlements on Tempo are counted from their on-chain stablecoin transfers once the contracts and addresses they use are confirmed.
  5. The report is dated: every figure is pinned to blocks before its publication date, and anything that moves later appears in the next edition.

Questions

Questions people ask.

What counts as AI agent activity on-chain?

Activity the chain can tie to agent infrastructure: payments settled through agent payment protocols such as x402, identities registered under ERC-8004, tokens created by agent launchpads and jobs settled through agent commerce contracts. A transaction is not counted as agent activity just because an agent might have sent it.

Why do agent payment totals disagree between sources?

Sources differ in which facilitators and chains they include, whether test traffic counts and where they cut off dates. This report lists its facilitator addresses and pins each total to blocks, so its figures can be reproduced.

What is the difference between x402 and the Machine Payments Protocol?

Both let software pay for services per request. x402 settles signed stablecoin transfers through facilitators on chains such as Base and Solana. The Machine Payments Protocol, launched with Tempo's mainnet, also supports payment sessions and other payment methods; this report counts only its on-chain stablecoin settlements.

When is each edition of the report published?

Shortly after each month ends, once the month's last blocks are final on every chain covered. Figures are pinned to blocks before the publication date, and later corrections are noted in the next edition.

x402
An open standard for paying over HTTP: a server asks for payment with status 402, and the client pays with a signed stablecoin transfer.
ERC-8004
The Trustless Agents standard for on-chain agent identity, reputation and validation registries.
Agent Commerce Protocol
Virtuals' contracts for agents hiring agents, with the payment held in escrow until the work is accepted.
Machine Payments Protocol
A payment standard for software agents launched with Tempo's mainnet, which settles stablecoin payments on Tempo and supports other payment methods.
