About

What it answers, and for whom.

This table ranks blockchain games by the number of distinct wallets that interact with their contracts each day, the closest on-chain measure of how many people play. Beside it are transactions, new wallets and trades of each game's NFTs and tokens, so a game's play can be told apart from the trading around it.

Wallets are not players: one person can use several, and bots can drive activity, especially where play earns tokens. The table shows the share of transactions from wallets with bot-like patterns, and every count links to the contracts it was read from, so readers can judge each game's numbers for themselves.

Method

How it will be measured.

Every figure will be read at a block, kept with its source and its exact read, and open a receipt anyone can re-check.

How receipts work →
  1. Each game is a set of contracts in a reviewed registry, per chain; a wallet is active on a day when it sends a transaction that calls one of them.
  2. Daily active wallets count distinct accounts calling the game's contracts in a UTC day; sponsored transactions are attributed to the player's account where the call records it, not to the sponsor.
  3. In-game asset trades are sales of the game's NFTs and tokens on marketplaces and DEXs, kept apart from gameplay calls.
  4. Wallets whose activity follows fixed schedules, or that were funded in bulk from one source, are flagged as likely bots and shown as a share, never silently removed.

Questions

Questions people ask.

What are the most played blockchain games?

Sort the table by daily active wallets for the latest complete day, or by the 30-day average for a steadier view. Wallet counts measure on-chain interactions, so a game that keeps most of its play off-chain can rank lower than its player numbers.

How are active users counted for web3 games?

An active wallet is a distinct address that sends a transaction to one of the game's contracts in a day. It overstates players who use several wallets and understates games that put only some actions on-chain, which the table notes per game.

Are blockchain games still active?

Activity varies widely between games and over time. The table shows each game's daily active wallets and its 30-day change, so a reader can see which games still draw players and which have gone quiet.

Why are some games missing from the ranking?

A game appears once its contracts are in the registry for a covered chain. Games on chains that are not covered yet, or that keep play off-chain, are listed as not covered rather than ranked at zero.

Daily active wallets
Distinct addresses that sent at least one transaction to a game's contracts in a UTC day.
Play-to-earn
A game design that rewards play with tokens or NFTs that can be sold, which can also attract bot activity.
Sponsored transaction
A transaction whose gas is paid by someone other than the player, such as a game's relayer or paymaster.
