About

What it answers, and for whom.

Every proof-of-stake chain pays stakers in new tokens and fees, but a headline yield says little on its own. This table puts each chain's gross staking yield beside its real yield, which takes out the growth in token supply that the rewards are paid from, and beside the share of supply that is staked.

A high yield on a chain whose supply grows almost as fast mostly dilutes the holders who do not stake; a lower yield on a chain with little issuance can be worth more. Reading the three columns together shows which case each chain is in. Rewards, stake and supply are read from each chain's own staking state at the end of each epoch or day.

Sort by real yield to compare what staking actually adds, check the unbonding period to see how long the stake stays locked and open any cell to see the epoch and the reads behind it.

Method

How it will be measured.

Every figure will be read at a block, kept with its source and its exact read, and open a receipt anyone can re-check.

How receipts work →
  1. Staked supply is read from each chain's staking state: vote accounts on Solana, the system state on Sui, the validator set on Aptos, active stake per epoch on Cardano, current validators on the Avalanche P-Chain and the equivalent calls elsewhere.
  2. Gross yield is the staking rewards paid over the last 30 days, before validator commission, divided by the average staked amount and annualized.
  3. Real yield adjusts the gross yield for the growth in total supply over the same window, so it shows how fast a staker's share of the network grows.
  4. The staking ratio divides staked supply by total supply on the same day; where a chain defines a circulating supply instead, the rule used is named in the row.
  5. Every figure names the epoch or block it was read at, with the calls behind it.

Questions

Questions people ask.

What is real staking yield?

Real yield is the staking yield minus the dilution from new tokens. If a chain's supply grows as fast as its staking rewards, stakers only keep their share of the network while non-stakers lose theirs; the real yield column shows what staking adds beyond that.

Why do staking yields differ so much between chains?

Each chain sets its own issuance schedule, share of fees and staking design. Chains with high inflation and a low staking ratio pay high nominal yields; chains with low issuance or most of their supply staked pay less. Commission and slashing rules then shape what a delegator receives.

What does the staking ratio tell you?

It is the share of total supply locked in staking. A high ratio means most holders stake and dilution falls on the few who do not; a low ratio leaves more supply liquid. It also moves yields, since the same rewards are shared across more or less stake.

Is staking yield the same as staking APY?

Not quite. APR annualizes rewards without compounding, while APY assumes rewards are restaked as they arrive. This table reports annualized rates from the rewards actually paid over 30 days, without assuming compounding.

What is an unbonding period?

The wait between asking to unstake and having tokens free to move. During it, most chains pay no rewards and the stake can often still be slashed. It ranges from none on some chains to several weeks on others, and the table lists each chain's rule.

Gross yield
Staking rewards over a period divided by the average amount staked, annualized, before inflation is taken into account.
Real yield
Gross yield adjusted for the growth in total supply over the same period: how fast a staker's share of the network grows.
Staking ratio
Staked supply as a share of total supply on the same day.
Commission
The share of delegators' rewards that a validator keeps for running the node.
Unbonding period
The wait between unstaking and receiving liquid tokens, during which most chains pay no rewards.
