AI Agent Wallets: Balances, Spending and Who Agents Pay

How many wallets do AI agents control, what do they hold and what do they spend their money on?

About

What it answers, and for whom.

An AI agent that pays for things needs a wallet it can use without a person signing each transaction. Some agent wallets are smart accounts with spending limits, some are multisigs controlled by agent keys and some are accounts bound to an agent's NFT. Wallet products built for agents are now common, including the agentic wallets Coinbase launched in February 2026.

This dashboard counts only wallets that on-chain evidence links to an agent, such as a registration in an ERC-8004 identity registry, the multisig of a registered Olas service or the account bound to a Virtuals agent, and records which evidence applies. It then shows what those wallets hold and where their money goes: gas, paid API calls such as x402 payments, swaps, jobs paid to other agents and plain transfers.

Method

How it will be measured.

Every figure will be read at a block, kept with its source and its exact read, and open a receipt anyone can re-check.

How receipts work →
  1. A wallet enters the list only with on-chain evidence: an agent wallet named in an ERC-8004 registration, a deployed Olas service multisig, a Virtuals agent's token-bound account or an account deployed by a published agent wallet factory.
  2. Balances are each wallet's stablecoin, native and registry token holdings at the day's last block, valued with oracle prices where a feed exists.
  3. Spending is outflows from listed wallets, sorted by what they paid for: gas, x402 and other paid API settlements, DEX swaps, agent job escrows and transfers, with transfers between wallets of the same agent removed.
  4. A payment counts as agent to agent when the receiving address is also on the list, so the share of agents paying other agents can be measured.

Questions

Questions people ask.

What is an AI agent wallet?

A wallet an autonomous program uses to hold funds and pay without a person approving each transaction. It can be a smart account with spending limits, a multisig controlled by agent keys or an account bound to an agent's NFT.

How are agent wallets identified?

Only through on-chain evidence, such as an ERC-8004 registration that names the wallet, an Olas service's multisig or a Virtuals agent's bound account. Wallets that merely behave like bots are not counted, so the list undercounts rather than guesses.

What do AI agents spend money on?

The spending view sorts outflows into gas, paid API calls such as x402 payments, swaps, jobs paid to other agents and plain transfers, so the mix can be compared across chains and over time.

Do agent wallets have spending limits?

Many do. Smart accounts built for agents can cap amounts per payment or per day and restrict tokens and recipients, enforced by the account's own contract. Where a wallet's limits can be read on-chain, they are recorded with the wallet.

Is this the same as x402 volume?

No. x402 payments come from many payers, including apps and people. This dashboard starts from the agents' wallets and shows x402 as one of several things they spend on, beside gas, swaps and jobs.

Token-bound account
A smart contract account owned by an NFT under ERC-6551, so whoever holds the NFT controls the account's assets.
Session key
A limited key a wallet grants for a time or a purpose, letting an agent sign some transactions without the main key.
Agent-to-agent payment
A payment from one listed agent wallet to another, such as a fee for a job or a tool call.
