About

What it answers, and for whom.

Bittensor is a network of subnets, each a market for one kind of machine intelligence work, from text generation to data scraping. Since dynamic TAO, each subnet has its own alpha token and a pool of TAO and alpha, and the network splits new TAO emissions between subnets according to how much TAO stakers move into each one. This table ranks subnets by those measures, read from the chain's own storage.

Emission share is the most watched figure because it decides how much each subnet's miners, validators and owner earn. Under the flow-based emission model, a subnet's share follows its net TAO staking inflows over a smoothed window, so the table shows the inflows beside the emissions they earn.

Sort by emission share, by TAO in the pool or by net inflows, and open any row to see the block and the storage reads behind it, so each subnet's figures can be checked against the chain.

Method

How it will be measured.

Every figure will be read at a block, kept with its source and its exact read, and open a receipt anyone can re-check.

How receipts work →
  1. Each subnet's TAO and alpha reserves are read from Subtensor storage (SubnetTAO, SubnetAlphaIn and SubnetAlphaOut) by netuid at the last block of each day.
  2. Emission share is each subnet's TAO emission over the day as a share of all subnet emissions, from the per-block emission values the chain records.
  3. Net TAO flows are TAO staked into minus TAO unstaked from each subnet's pool over the window, from add_stake and remove_stake extrinsics.
  4. The alpha price is the ratio of TAO to alpha in the subnet's pool at the same block, the price its own pool quotes.
  5. Every figure carries a receipt: the block number, its hash and the storage keys read.

Questions

Questions people ask.

What is a Bittensor subnet?

A subnet is a competition inside Bittensor where miners produce one kind of work, such as model outputs or data, and validators score it. Each subnet has an id called a netuid, an owner who sets its rules and, since dynamic TAO, its own alpha token.

How are TAO emissions split between subnets?

New TAO is divided between subnets by a rule set in the protocol. Since the move to flow-based emissions, a subnet's share follows the net TAO staked into its pool over a smoothed window, and subnets with net outflows can receive little or none.

What is dynamic TAO?

Dynamic TAO, launched in February 2025, gave each subnet its own alpha token and a pool that holds TAO and alpha. Staking TAO into a subnet buys its alpha through that pool, so a market for alpha replaced the validator votes that used to set emissions.

What did the Bittensor halving change?

The first halving, in December 2025, cut the TAO issued per block in half. Bittensor halvings follow its total issuance rather than a fixed calendar, and the table can show emissions per subnet on either side of each one.

What is a subnet alpha token?

Each subnet's own token under dynamic TAO. Its price in TAO is set by the subnet's pool. The subnet's miners, validators and owner are paid in it, and stakers hold it when they stake TAO into the subnet.

Netuid
The numeric id of a Bittensor subnet. Netuid zero is the root network.
Alpha
A subnet's own token under dynamic TAO, priced in TAO by the subnet's pool.
Subtensor
The Bittensor blockchain itself, built with Substrate, whose storage holds every subnet's pools, stakes and emissions.
Emission share
The part of each block's new TAO a subnet receives, which pays its miners, validators and owner.
